Newest Review: ... the latest articles from all of the sections. Apart from the main sections that I mentioned above there are some other less prominent sections available for you to browse through. These sections are: Broadband, e-business, The Mac Channel, Channel Flannel, BOFH: Whole Shebang, The Vulture Central Mailbag. Some of these sections might need a little more explaining to do as they don't mean much to those who have not used the website! Channel Flannel - this is a section that deals with articles to do with bad sales, job losses, fallings out etc... happening within the sector. BOFH: Whole Shebang - this one might take a little longer to... more

When you think of it and it related news you might think that this going to make for a very boring read. In most cases you would be correct and the news would be dull and un-interesting, especially to the non-it professional! So then if I told you that there was a website that gave you all of the latest it and it related news, with a twist would you believe me? Well you should! If you visit www.theregister.co.uk you will find a website with all the latest it news, but the crucial thing is that on the whole this news is dealt with in an amusing (sometimes sceptical) way, if possible. Yay... is what I say! **The Site ** The website is split into ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Interested in Information Technology? (380 words)

I don't remember how I first happened upon the website of The Register (The hand that bites IT) but I have been a visitor ever since, frequenting the site daily, although I usually go at around 6pm as the site's last update is around that time, so you get all the day's IT news on one day. The articles are generally well written, with an often sarcastic undertone, and some of the stories over tha last few months have been genuinely enlightening. For example, it might surprise many people, but before Windows went stupid, Bill Gates was actually a very accomplished programmer. No sphere of Information technology is left out either, whether ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review theregister.co.uk: A bird in the hand (681 words)

The Register is one of the best IT news websites that I have found. It manages to report on the most recent happenings on the Internet and more generally in the computing world while maintaining an air of sarcasm and wit that is second to none. ~~~IT News~~~ The website boasts a busy front page that is covered in the most recent IT related headlines. Clicking on a headline will take you to the article where you can read about said headline to your hearts content. They are always well ahead of the more traditional science news websites such as the section in BBC news, and bring relevant stories to your attention. The research is through and they are ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Talk about dumbing down! (88 words)
by - written on 02/08/00 (8 readings)
Rating:

The Register has managed to reach a new low in reporting with its ultra-bitchy take on the Internet industry. News is not backed up with fact, rumours are slinged about under a false veil of honesty and all of the stories are generally lifted from quality sites like ZDNet, Silicon, and the Guardian and homespun into a tragically pointless piece of fluff, unfit for anyone with an IQ higher than 1. It is a sad person who writes for the Register and an even sadder person who reads it. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review theregister.co.uk: Detailed hi-tech news at your fingertips (125 words)
by - written on 07/07/00 (Useful, 20 readings)

Need to know some news involving the technology sector? Well theregister is the place to go. It has become one of the industry’s favourite for up to date news. It seems to report honestly and often covers a lot of stories which I haven’t been able to find under the normal resources. The search facility can help you find the piece of news you want to or you could look in the appropriate category you want to find the daily news for. The main page highlights the main stories of the day. I’d recommend this site if you are in the IT industry in addition to the BBC news web site for your daily news requirements. ...  Read the complete review
