Advantages: two singles option makes your travel life so much cheaper
Disadvantages: £10 refund fee
thetrainline.com is the easiest and most efficient site to use for booking train tickets!
The layout itself is very user friendly, not too clustered as i have found alternative train line sites can look; and has a great colour scheme and logo to give it a professional look.
Setting up an account takes only a few minutes and buying tickets using the card you put onto your account is just as simple.
The home page has a section where you can put in your leaving station and arriving station, times and dates with a 'return' option leaving it only seconds before you have a timetable up of trains, then by adding railcards and passengers a few more seconds you have a list of different tickets available and prices.
If your confused about which ticket to get, you just need to click the ticket and a pop up (java) window will give you all the information about what the ticket can and cant do and if refunds are available etc.
The prices are also excellent, theres an option to pick 'two singles' when the return ticket is a bit pricey.
The 'two singles' option is displayed the same way as a return ticket on a screen allowing you to buy them together saving yourself a load of money!
The only problem is the £10 refund fee which i'm not sure if it can be helped as i don't know if the fee comes from the website or the trainline itself.
Summary: If your going to take a train - heres where to book your tickets

- 11/06/09 The options are sometimes not comprehensive and you need to do a bit of digging to get the journey you want, Susan |
