Advantages: Easy to use searches, find cheaper tickets, buy online

Disadvantages: None that I can think of!

The Trainline is an really useful website to look up times, prices, and book train tickets in the UK.

The website has recently been updated to improve the search function on the left side of the home page which I find a lot easier to use than the previous tool.

To search for trains you simply enter the station where you want to set off from then the station where you want to get to. Next you enter the date, you can also click on the calendar icon and select a date i.e. find the next saturday instead of trying to figure out what date it will be and then entering that. Then you select the options for outgoing travel, 'leave after' or 'arrive before' then select the time. You can then choose to search for one way tickets or choose the options for the return journey.

I usually select one way and book two single tickets as this can be cheaper, but it is best to check every option before buying the tickets.

There are then options for how many people are travelling, adult, children etc and options to add in railcards i.e young persons. You then click the 'Get times & tickets' and it searches for available tickets. It is quite quick to load the tickets page but it is not instant.

You can then view information like how many changes there will be in the journey and where they are, length of journey, different journeys around the times requested and how much the tickets will be, different types of tickets available etc.

It is very easy to find train tickets and buy them, when you order them you can choose to have them posted first class with a small charge (I think it's 50p) or you can pick them up from any train station free of charge, you just need to take your payment card to the station and use the self service machines. Also, it doesn't have to be the stations you are departing from or arriving to which I find very helpful.

All in all it is a very good service and I recommend it!
