I travel a lot by train as i cannot drive and it certainly gets expensive. What i like about thetrainline is that i can book my tickets online and they will send me the tickets in the post or i can collect them from the fast ticket machines at the station. This makes things a lot easier for me, instead of going to the station to ... Read the complete review

Thetrainline. com is an excellent website to use to find out train times and to plan journeys, you can also use the site to purchase train tickets as well however I have never used that particular function preferring to buy them in advance from the train station or even on the day as often the need to travel is at pretty short notice for me and it ... When I found the trainline.com I was so relieved to find that you could get trains much cheaper! The prices now are so dear! And they dont have to be, people will always need to use public transport. I don't want to sound like a hippie but surely by using a train we should be rewarded by cheaper tickets seeing as were thinking about the ... Read the complete review

Not impressed, tickets have apparently got lost and the best they can do is advise me to pick them up at the station. Not convenient so am currently trying to get a refund and buy them elsewhere.

What a shambles! The trainline website has been updated, what a waste of money!!It is slow, does not recognise all stations entered.Since April, when the fare structure was simplified, sorry fare price increase, the fare from ,for example Liverpool to Euston,in London, has doubled if using a railcard.,which has also doubled in price! If you are ... Read the complete review

I've been using this website to buy train tickets between stoke-on-trent and norwich, and although it's reasonably simple to use, there are a few problems. Firstly, on the tickets I've recieved I mostly have a seat listed. For the last four journeys I've made, these seats are not reserved once I get on the train, which means that I have ... I have used the trainline website for years. I started using it when i worked in London, and was forever missing my trains because i didn't have a travelcard. So, i would normally book my tickets from this website, so save me lining up at London Victoria, where the line normally took around half hour to get a ticket. ** How easy is the ... I have used The Trainline quite a lot and have always managed to find really good cheap tickets (like a family of 4 return from Liverpool to London for £43!!) - but since they have a) updated all fares to apparently better deals, and b) unpdated their website - it has been a nightmare! For one, I can't find my local (ok - small) train ... Read the complete review

Beware. The trainline have got into bed with "Shopper discount and Rewards".After buying your ticket you're asked if you want to get £10 of your next transaction.Click yes and merely by confirming your mail you automatically get enrolled as a SD&R member at £8 a month. They get their money because The Trainline hand over your card details to these clowns.
Google "Shopper discount and Rewards" for the whole story and check your statements.
Shame really because I've always found the trainline efficient, quick and cheap if you can book in advance, but the lowest of the low for trying to dupe their customers.

I needed to book a return train journey for a weekend break to the coast just now, and as usual I decided to book my journey online. I had never used thetrainline.com before, but seeing as all trains were booked off the same database, there should be no difference in price right? Wrong. Despite booking online and skirting round any ... Read the complete review

Have used thetrainline.com, mostly with success. my girlfriend on the otherhand is owed over £100 sterling, by them and more money by virgin trains after the transaction crashed on completion. Anyone else having trouble with non-uk sounding names? Just a straw poll like, to find out what other peoples experiences have been?
My advice is do it over the phone if possible.

I purchased two tickets 7 days before I travelled on a Friday, and they never arrived! By Wednesday I was a bit concerned so I phoned thetrainline and was greeted by a women who could barely speak English, let alone understand what I was saying. This sort of customer service is a disgrace. By Thursday it was too late to be mailed a ... Read the complete review

I have used thetrainline.com for over six years now without flaw (cheap tickets, free postage, fast delivery etc.)--until now. With my recent order, no seats were reserved for me (which I have requested), the call centre was useless, manage to change my journey times so I can reserve seats and today I found out I was charged extra 50p per reservation! If only they pre-warned me. I have no idea why they have introduced extra charges. I will be booking direct from virgin trains from now on.

I purchased tickets on the 9/06/2008 for a journey on 11/06/2008 and within 2 hours, my meeting was cancelled, so I promptly applied online for a refund and called the helpdesk to confirm the refund. By the 14/07/2008 - Still no refund received - Contacted call centre and told would be refunded in next few days. By the 21/07/2008 - ... Read the complete review

thetrainline.com is a very useful website for checking train timetables and booking trains in advance all over the UK and even internationally. If you're like me and dislike calling up strangers and prefer information in a visual format, this is the website for you. It is very clearly set out and visually simple. However, despite this, ... Like many others on this site it seems, I too am struggling terribly with obtaining a refund (£84 worth). They sent me an incomplete set of tickets so was asked to return them to be refunded and then reissued. As well as failing to reissue them, they only refunded the amount for the tickets they received back. Obviously I couldn't return a ... Read the complete review

As a part of my having fun plan after confirming I have a hotel booked it occured that going to Birmingham and drinking the night away would probably make driving home the next day somewhat dangerous. So turning to the ever present cashback sites to look for a cheap and reasonably reliable way to get to the drinking city and then home ... Read the complete review

Yep, thetrainline.com is rubbish: it shows tickets prices that aren't available; won't let you use more than one railcard at a time; hides their phone number from you and makes you wait when calling their 0870 phone number. Awful. As jamesontheroad says, use http://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.com/ instead.
