Advantages: Lots of surveys
Disadvantages: Rewards take ages to build up and vouchers take ages to come
I recently wrote a review on one of my favourite survey sites so today I thought I would review one that I am not quite as impressed with.
I joined Toluna about a year ago when I was trying to join quite a few survey sites. As with all survey sites you have to sign up in order to get surveys sent to you. It is quite easy to register for the site. You just have to put in some basic details such as your email address and the password you want to use. You also have to read the terms and conditions of the site. When you have signed up to the site you can fill in your profiles. These can be accessed on the home page once you have signed in. I haven't actually filled much of mine in but still seem to get a lot of surveys so I am not sure how much of a difference it makes.
One good thing about Toluna is probably the amount of surveys I seem to get sent. This site sends me the most surveys of all the sites I am signed up to. I usually get surveys nearly every day. A lot of these I do get screened out of though. The surveys are also not worth much.
On Toluna you can earn points , which if you have enough of you can redeem for a voucher. You can get £12 vouchers for cdwow, hmv and halfords. You can also redeem for £10 for amazon. You can redeem for all of these by getting 60,000 points. You can also get discount vouchers but i have never redeemed for these before. You can get points by doing surveys and also by doing some sponsored polls. The sponsored polls are usually only worth 15 points but occassionally you will get a 150 point set of polls. These are updates quite often so it is worth checking the site often.
The surveys links are sent to you in an e-mail. This e-mail states how many points the survey is, usually tells you some kind of hint of what the survey is about and tells you how many points you get. The points can range a lot from 10,000 points for a survey to about 1000. When you think that you need to get 60,000 points you can see why it could take you a long time to build up points. I do get screened out of quite a few surveys but as I get so many it doesn't really matter. They do tend to leave the surveys open for a while so you can catch up with them all in one go if you want to.
The actual surveys vary a lot. They come from a variety of companies so some can be a lot more interesting than others. They also vary a lot in their style. I do prefer some styles more than others but usually give all of them a go.
You can check how many points you have by logging in to the site. This is displayed on the home page. It takes a few days for points for surveys to be added to your account and they usually all seem to be added at the same time. When you have got to 60,000 you can redeem for your reward. One of the worst things about this site is how long it takes for you to get your voucher once you have redeemed. I have redeemed twice on this site. The first time I redeemed for Halfords vouchers and these took over two months to turn up and I had even had to e-mail them to check they were coming. Last time i applied for an amazon voucher which is an e-voucher so I thought like some sites this would come very quickly but it took weeks again. I find this quite annoying but I am still sticking with it for now.
There are also some other things that you can do on the site. People can post their own polls or ask questions and you can reply to these and say what you think. These are on loads of different topics and can be interesting. You don't get any points for these though.
You can also apply to test a product. You have to answer a couple of questions to register for each product. I have done this a number of times and have never been sent a product to test. I guess they have a lot of people who register.
Overall I think Toluna is an OK site and I have managed to redeemed a couple of times. It is a lot of work though and the rewards take ages to arrive.
Summary: An OK site but hard work
