Advantages: Lots of survey invitations

Disadvantages: High screen out rate, Low rewards

I signed up to a number of survey sites last year and in my opinion Toluna is one not to bother with.

Like most survey sites the sign up process is easy, although it does involve completing a lot of time consuming profiling surveys that are supposed to ensure that the survey invitations you receive are relevant to you. You then wait for them to email you with survey invitations. You click on the link in the email and are taken straight to the survey.

Toluna email me far more survey invitations than any other site, several a week. When I initially signed up I attempted almost every survey I was sent. However, I found the screen out rate (the number of surveys that are stopped before the end for no reward) to be far higher than for any other survey site. I estimate I completed about one in every six surveys I attempted.

The reward system makes it seem far more generous than it really is. The minimum you can redeem is 60,000 points which is worth a £10 voucher. When you work out that 300 points thus only equals 5p you can work out that a survey with a reward of 1800 points is only worth 30p. A very small reward for 10-15 minutes of your time, that's if you are allowed to complete the survey at all.

As well as surveys you can earn points by answering poll questions on their website. However as most answers are worth 15 points per poll (0.25p) it really isn't worth the time and effort.

I have stuck with Toluna until I earned by £10 voucher, which took about a year and goodness knows how many hours and aborted surveys. It took 8 weeks for the e voucher to arrive by email. I will not be attempting any more of their surveys.

Summary: Do not sign up for this- there are much better survey sites.

It can take ages to earn the 60,000 needed for the vouchers but they do pay out.
