Advantages: Every little helps and it is something for nothing really
Disadvantages: Takes ages to get your vouchers
In essence Toluna is a site which allows you to earn points to convert into vouchers/prize draw entries/ discounts.
HOW IT WORKS
Toluna send you emails which allow you access surveys. They vary in genre, length and demographic but if you match the profile you get a certain number of points. Again this varies.
Also, Toluna has a community element where you can create topics and get replies. If you receive 20 you get 500 points, 30 gets 1000 points, 40 gets 2000 and so on but only up to 100 replies. You also get 100 points everytime you write 80 words or more on those topics.
They also offer sponsored polls which are a few questions for between 15 and 180 points. These are quite frequent and can add up.
So, for every 80 000 points you get you can redeem for e voucher or paper vouchers worth £15. These are Amazon, Debenhams, Love2Shop and a few others though I have never got them. There are also other rewards for fewer points though I have no experience of them!
There is a great community spirit on Toluna which makes it a nice place to be and there are opportunities to make a good amount of vouchers. I average one every 6 to 8 weeks which does soon mount up. Also, some of the surveys can be very interesting especially when you see the product on the shelf a few months later.
Vouchers often take ages to arrive and points take a while to be creditted. Toluna aren't the most customer focused organisation I have ever met and they are based in france so that can cause an issue at times.
Overall I would say that I like Toluna but it can be a very, very frustrating site to use. I have found that there are a lot of good things about it and I like to have the vouchers mounting up. They really help you to save sometimes but do not rely on the vouchers actually arriving when you need them. They say an average of 8 weeks but it sometimes can be up to three months or more! You're never going to earn your fortune but every little helps, especially in this climate!
Summary: Generally a good thing but patience is a virtue especially when dealing with Toluna!
