We booked & paid for B&B at a Penang hotel through Travel Republic but on arrival were refused breakfast as TR had booked the hotel "room only". TR refused to deal with the matter whilst we were at the hotel & told us it would be sorted out when we returned. NINE MONTHS LATER I have received £75 compensation ie the cost of the missing breakfasts after multiple letters, emails and involving ABTA who were helpful if a little toothless! I have probably spent 10 hours writing, researching and threatening - all for £75 - but it is the principle that counts. DON'T USE TRAVEL REPUBLIC -read all the negative comments posted on various sites.
TR booked this hotel through a division of Expedia - but managed to significantly undercut Expedia's price and I don't understand how they manage this? Next time I will pay a little more & go straight to Expedia.
