Booking my holiday
Member Name: Dragonfairy
Advantages: Easy to use, clear options and pricing
Disadvantages: none for me
Travel republic are one of many online travel agents, who make holidays from flights, hotels etc. We recently used them to book our holiday to ibiza.
**So why did we use them?**
Well partly because they had the cheapest holiday matching our needs :) These were however the second company we tried to book with, as strangely I thought I'd booked with a different company that was slightly cheaper for the same holiday, but after giving my payment details online it turned out that I had only made a booking request and they rang me the next day to say the price had gone up so I told them I wasn't interested lol and booked the same holiday through travel republic instead.
**Was it easy?**
Yes on the main page you can choose between just hotels, flights or a package of flights and hotels which is what I picked. I picked a destination, flying from Newcastle (because it's near where I live, feel free to pick one near you :) ), and the departure and return date I wanted, you then add how many people and press search. The site then shows you a list of potential flights with prices, having picked one you then go on to select a hotel. Here you can narrow the search down by stars, board, customer ratings or if you want to be near somewhere. There is a description of each hotel and their facilities, as well as customer ratings. There is also a useful link to a map of where the hotel is. Having chosen a hotel the next page confirms your choice and gives you the chance to book "extras" these are such things as hold luggage, transfers, insurance, attraction tickets and car hire. Having picked everything you want you then proceed to pay for your holiday and that's you booked. To be honest this compares pretty favourably with most holiday sites I've used I like the fact that all the prices are clearly laid out, and that you can see what that extra case will cost you. The trip I picked was ticketless and all I had to do was print out the vouchers that they sent me. I found the instructions on the voucher to be very good, they clearly explained where to find the office to get our resort transfer, and that in San Antonio bay transfers don't stop outside hotels but near them.
**Any problems and customer service**
At the time of booking you provide a mobile number as well as your email address for problems, we did run into a problem in the form of a change of hotel. I was notified of this by email and text, which I thought was quite impressive as they clearly wanted to make sure I saw the message. I sorted the problem through their online "manage my booking" section, and agreed to the change of hotel, although I have to say as this isn't a package I don't know what would have happened with my flight or transfer if I hadn't. However I did accept and within a couple of hours received my updated hotel voucher and transfer voucher to my new hotel. In general I found the customer service good.
**Would I book through them again?**
Yes definitely, I liked the clear information and pricing, the web site is easy to navigate and the customer service was good. I would add a word of caution though as some of the airline routes are through budget airlines so you should check whether you need to print off boarding passes etc.
Looking back on their web site it occurred to me that sometimes you just want a travel site to inspire you (well that might just be me), and I think they do do this. On their site there are lots of options for flights to different places, favourite destinations and attraction tickets for different countries.
They are Atol protected and have a lowest price guarantee. There is also a phone number if you would like to phone them instead..
In conclusion I'd give them 4 stars for a great holiday booking experience.
Summary: A good online travel ageant
