tripod.co.ukNewest Review: ... - the site is easy to navigate, and there are tools for all levels of webmasters to create great looking pages. They cater for everyone. Uploading files is easy, and what's really nice for the non-techno, is that they take you through stuff in easy-to-understand language. Some things, step by step. They have hit counters, images library, guest books - take your pick. Now with Trellix, you can ... more |

I've been with Tripod (albeit the American site) since 1997, (Tripod UK since 1998) and I think it's the best webhosting place you could ask for. For starters, it's FREE and they give you 10MB, but that's not all. It doesn't matter if you are a novice at the whole web-page game or an absolute HTML superstar - the site is easy to navigate, and there are tools for all levels of webmasters to create great looking pages. Tripod was once a independent web hosting site but was recently taken over by Lycos. When I first started out designing web pages and needed web space, tripod was one of the sites I used for web space. Free web space is always good. It is a great way to get your web site online with the minimal amount of knowledge of what it takes to create, upload and maintain a web site. The design and navigation of this web site is great and everything is easy to access and get to. There are plenty of extra tools and scripts available from complete designed web pages where you only have to add your text and images. Scripts available include hit counters ... Tripod.co.uk sound good - 50mb, no bandwidth restrictions (yippee), excellent tutorials in such things as paint shop pro, HTML and Java, all combine to give the image of a free host aimed at not just beginners but improvers too, an alternative to paid for hosting. Sadly in my experience this is let down by the reliability of a two crucial aspects - Site availability and FTP. Granted - site downtime although annoying is probably no worse than some others, I do seem though too many times to be clicking on "refresh" to get my site up - would visitors bother doing the same? The FTP problem is much worse though; it seems to be hardly ever working. What ... Read the complete review

I signed up for Tripod last year as a complete web newbie. Tripod was friendly, easy to use, and was just generally a really good place to have a website. Then tragedy struck - Lycos took over. Words cannot do justice to the horror of Lycos Tripod. Random downtime with no warning or explanation and random denial of FTP access were the first signs of trouble. I thought it was just my problem - then I went and had a look at the help forums and saw that everyone else had the same problem. Support? Forget it. Apart from the odd (usually sarcastic) comment from a moderator in the forums, not a whisper from Lycos. Thinking that ... Read the complete review

Tripod easily tops the list of the best free webdomains. You don't even have to know the codes html and javascript as it has its own web builder. But if you are more advanced you can use the script editor and file manager. One thing that makes this site good for web hosting is all the things it offers you to have on your website. For example you can make money have a guestbook, form mailer and chat room. You can also have more. Another than website making tripod is also a bigger site for other things like search engines a virtual calender and also extra features you will find on the website. So i recommend this website completly if you want ... Read the complete review
