tripod.comNewest Review: ... a good thing. They also give you a short URL to hand out. Mine is http://seacow.tripod.com. One of the best things is that it’s easy for beginners to use. You can either create your page in the Tripod members area or create your page while not connected and upload it later. There are also plenty of tools to use, most of which I haven’t gotten around to. There are guest books ... more |

I signed up for several free web pages without realizing that only a few megabytes would be enough. Now, I don’t know why people are saying that you get 50 or even 100 MB with Tripod. For some reason, I only got 20 MB. You can pay for more, but the free hosting limits me to 20 MB. Don’t get me wrong. I think 20 MB is enough, especially considering that I don’t have to pay for it. Yes, they impose their own banner ads, but they allow you to post yours and that’s a good thing. They also give you a short URL to hand out. Mine is http://seacow.tripod.com. This is one of the most best free webhost you can find on the internet, but I got my own unlimited webspace host so I don't use Tripod anymore. ---Past Experience--- It was only about 3 years ago where I got online and half year later I understood alot about the internet and started working out HTML (hyper-text markup language, an advanced language that allows you to make webpages). Anyway, I got use to HTML and decided to find a decent free webhost. By several researches, reviews and tests, I have realised that the best host possible is Tripod.com. I started making webpages which looked so professional that people started to ask me to build a ... Read the complete review

I decided to change from Acmecity to Tripod site hosts for my personal and fansites. It's easy to sign up and the url that you get when you do isn't as bad as some that you get. At least it's not a million characters long. The system is good. If you don't know anything about html then they give you a good run through and their customer service is brilliant if you need a hand. If you do know about html then there are easy uploads and editting online. It can be a little slow because of all the adverts they have, though. You can choose from a pop up advert and a banner advert that stays on the site all the time. This is the only real problem I ... Read the complete review

Tripod is the easiest web hosting site to use, the largest and one of the fastest. But its pop-up windows containing advertisements are making me look for another web hosting company. I signed up to the site about one month ago, and as a first time user, I found Tripod an excellent site due to its partner FTP software called Trelix Web. I actually found that you could host a site on Tripod for free by accident. I did this when I bought my new computer that had Trelix Web pre installed. As I was playing around with making a web site, I decided to look at what publishing deals were on offer through Trelix Web. I found Tripod and chose it ... Read the complete review

For my first attempts at websites, I used Geocities. Which was good for novices, but soon became a pain, having pop-up ads or banners on every page, and their online file manager wasn't particularly good either. And with Geocities you never got an easy-to-remember website address. Recently Tripod.co.uk has been redesigned. Oh boy, it knocks Geocities for six. For a start, it's _fast_. No waiting for ages for a page to load, and when it does load it's set out neatly. One of the first things I noticed when I signed up was the amount of webspace you're given - 100Mb! One hundred megabytes! FREE! There must be a catch, I thought. Maybe you ... Read the complete review
