Twitter.com is an online social networking site that allows you to connect with other people around the world for free and see what they have been up to.

Twitter is free to join and signup is easy and simple. Just provide your name, username, email address & a secure password. Once you have signed up you can then add an avatar or profile picture to your account as well as customise some settings such as making your Twitter updates only available to people that you approve. This is a fantastic feature as it means you can rant safe in the knowledge that certain people can't actually read what you've been writing.

Twitter is becoming more popular recently and I have an iPhone and download applications for it and I am finding that a lot of creators of applications have Twitter accounts and then they will post there with any new updates coming to the application or any downtime issues etc and it's great to be able to see it all on one page and in minimal information. It means that I don't have to trawl through pages and pages just to find out what I want to know.

There are also quite a few celebrities currently on Twitter and people can choose to follow them and read about their life etc and hang on to their every word. I personally don't do this but some people may be interested.

I find the site very easy to use and I love the fact that it is free. You can add 'status updates' to your page but they must be less than 160 characters and this is great as it means that you can see what your friends & loved ones are up to whilst keeping it short and sweet! I also like the fact that I can add my real name as well as a username so people from different websites can find me by either my real name or my username as I use both on different websites. It is very easy to find friends as you can search by username, first name or last name as well as adding friends from other networks or by e-mail. It will also note members that you add and then suggest friends that it thinks you may have in common.

Overall I find the site extremely easy to use, it's so easy to follow people and it's simple to update. There is nothing to bog the site down and this makes it nice and easy to use and it runs very fast. There seems to be little or no downtime on the site and they send out regular update e-mails keeping people informed of changes that are happening to the site. I am rating the site 5/5 for it's simplicity and the fact that it is free.

Summary: A fantastically addictive website.
