Advantages: Very colourful & user friendly.
Disadvantages: For the official site, it could give more.
For all those Beanie Baby fans out there, this website is just for you! This collecting trend enjoys fits and starts of popularity, and I'm sure this website has many regular visitors, who are still very devoted to this new craze, as well as new visitors, who are just inquisitive to find out more. I fell into the latter category, and was soon confronted by a sixties-throwback colour scheme for the background, along with surrounding icons which lead the user into many different options. The ty classic section is for truly devoted fans. As every good fan knows, all Beanie Babies have a catchy name, and this section lists the classics, along with details about them. Nine year old girls will especially like this section! I'm not sure if the MYTyfolio section is altogether necessary, I'd like to know if people do actually use this. I think you would need many, many Ty toys in order to maximise the potential. Why not just use a database off-line? The Beanie greetings section claims that it is opening in July 2000, but at the time of writing, it is not yet open, so I wait with baited breath. Children love sending e-postcards to each other, so I think this section will be very popular. For the official Ty website, I thought it may be a tad more professional, with many more facilities, but it looks as though it has potential.

- 27/01/01 I use the My Tyfolio section actually ! I have over 230 TYs in my collection, so find it useful to have an online list and especially as it's printable with pics too :-) |
