Description: u-rate-it is an online community for sharing reviews and consumer reports on businesses, websites, movies and DVDs.

I was not going to give up on what I thought was a reasonable request without a fight. While writing for this site, the sense of community with reviewing peers made it something that I did not wish to give up. My final straw was noticing that ... more

Premium Review U-rate-it/DOOYOO EXPOSED!!! (2884 words)

Background: I am a relative newbie to consumer-based review sites. Formerly. I was involved with writing for online magazines; one was a journal-type and the other reviewed mp3's. I preferred writing reviews. However, I was totally uninspired by the content of mediocre mp3 submissions and became bored. Writing is my creative release. Without having a source for that, I have similar symptoms of becoming Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey's role in American Beauty) . My career in government is 100% technical. I have a wife and child in suburban hell. Without this function, my life strongly resembles Ground Hog's Day (Bill Murray vehicle, in which ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review u-rate-it.com: Is the hype justified? (3415 words)

Many people in the opinionating world have their site of choice. For a long time, it was split between the so-called "big two" of Ciao and Dooyoo, and even when other sites came along, or gained more exposure here in the UK (Bigrag, Epinions etc.) the big two managed to keep their member numbers fairly steady. I heard about u-rate-it (URI) originally from various whisperings on ChuckleWeb board, and from another opinionator. The whisperings were that URI was a new opinion site which quite ...  Read the complete review

U-Rate-it... I expect you will have heard of this place already. The people in the opinionating world don't often stay out of the loop for too long when it comes to developments in the field of their hobby of choice. But many I imagine will have taken a cursory look and thought 'Nah!' or perhaps you don't feel you have the time to contribute to another place, well that's fine. But read on and let me see if I can change your mind. U-rate-it is, for those that aren't already aware, a consumer review site just like Ciao and Dooyoo. It's new, very new, the site has only really been an option to most of its member since ...  Read the complete review

I was quite an early starter on U-rate-It (hence known by URI). It was a sit that was heartily endorsed by members of Ciao and Dooyoo, so I popped over and was very impressed by its bright pages and the outstanding friendliness and helpfulness of the creator James. You do the usual register, fill in a few bits about yourself, download a photo (thankfully no one has ever seen what I look like and that how its going to stay!), and get ready to write some reviews.. Back then it seemed that there were very few things to write about, but hallelujah, instead of e-mailing some mysterious person requesting a product and waiting months for it to be put up. Or in Dooyoos ...  Read the complete review
