Advantages: Lists times of films in your area
Disadvantages: very difficult to read and follow
After receiving some free UCI cinema tickets from a website, I decided to find out what films are currently showing and at what times. The nearest UCI cinema to me is approximately 10 miles away, and the times are not shown in our local newspaper. I thought that should be a website for UCI Cinemas, so tonight decided to have a look. I found it straight away, but on first impressions, it didn't look very helpful at all. On the home page all the main lettering is bright yellow and you can't read it. You have to practically put your face up against the screen to read what it says!! The main headings are "now & Soon", "Keep in touch", "comps - news - links", and "info & Jobs". I found it quite difficult to find the section on times and dates of films showing in my area. Personally I think that most people who do look on a cinema website, are more than likely wanting to find out what films are on in their area, and at what time. Surely there should be a section for this on the homepage. Again when I did find it, all the film headings were in bright yellow and I could barely read them. I found the film times difficult to follow and had to read through them 2 or 3 times to make sure I had read it right. On the left handside of the screen shows what films are currently on, but again this is in bright yellow and very difficult to read!! Another thing that I would have expected would be a way of booking cinema tickets on line. I couldn't find anything on this. All I found was a 24 hour booking phone line that you could ring to pay for tickets. Again I would expect to be able to book tickets on-line like you can for other things. Apart from that there is a small section on reviews of new films, and a competition section which wasn't well presented. Overall I was extremely disappointed with their website. Considering that UCI cinemas are suc
h a big organisation, I would have expected much better.
