Advantages: Larger catalogue of items than dooyoo, doesn't take as long to make suggestions for the catalogue.

Disadvantages: slow, ugly, confusing, often find oneself chasing payouts, can only review commerical products.

As a means to make a bit of extra cash without really doing much, I've shared some of my reviews on Dooyoo with Ciao.co.uk. For those unfamiliar with Ciao, its a consumer product review site that pays its users in exactly the same vain as Dooyoo, but pays out much less, and is generally of much lower quality.

The site layout is incredibly convoluted and payout information is next to impossible to understand. You're payed by having your reviews rated by other users, rather than just writing them, and the money rolls in very slowly, apart from on the 10th of each month when very good reviews are awarded "Premium fund." I have found it to be impossible to discover which of my reviews have been awarded this fund. The site is very slow and ugly looking. I often find it difficult to look at too long as it lacks the aesthetic simplicity of Dooyoo and Helium. Its full of ad-banners and constantly redirects you to pages you don't want to be at, like "Bing."

As half the things uploaded to the site will barely make you a penny, I have found myself constantly chasing Premium funds by only uploading only the best of my reviews. Whilst they dont mind you having your reviews on two sites. I think its called cross-posting, ( sounds a bit like a fetish! :o ) you dont get much for rubbish.

You can suggest commercial products that arent uploaded yet, and it does take much less time than Dooyoo, also, it also contains a greater amount of products. Nonetheless there's nowhere to discuss ideas or none-commercial products. In fact my review of "Minesweeper" even came under scrutiny becomes it comes free with Windows XP!

The rating system is convoluted and its easy to find yourself very frustrated at this site. Rating on Ciao is much more important than it is on Dooyoo, or even Helium, and its slow, stubborn interface and boot-ugly aesthetic makes this incredibly difficult to tolerate.

I only recommend using this site if you have loads of reviews that you dont mind uploading to it, that goes for you dooyoo users!

Summary: Mainly for veteran Dooyooers.

I found that the layout of ciao works much better for me and the information is clearer. The reviews are much easier to read because they have a wider layout and the rating scale is wider, which might be a bit confusing but hey, this is just my opinion.

I still haven't tested the water on ciao. Undecided. :(
