I ordered three spare parts on a Thursday via their online order facility to fix my 14 year old Hoover washer-dryer. I'd taken it completely to pieces in order to check I really could fix it and to verify the size of the replacement bearings, so I needed rapid delivery to allow me to get it put back together again and avoid trips to the launderette. On Friday the order was marked as being "processed" but I then noticed that the door seal I'd ordered was marked as obsolete. Thinking this might hold up the order I e-mailed them and had a response on Saturday afternoon that there was no problem - I'd just taken the last one and the order would ship on Monday. It arrived on Tuesday, well packed, and the washer-dryer is now running again like new.
We have a Bosch oven and when after seven years the glass lamp holder inside the oven shattered, I replaced with one from UK White Goods.I found the website very easy to use, the price was very competitive too, and delivery was speedy.I'm now wondering whether this was a genuine Bosch part given that it only lasted for 9 months.I did contact UK White Goods who said there was no guarantee on glass products.

This website is a bible devoted to everything you need to know about white goods, from selecting and buying them, to repairing them, through to basic tips such as stain removal, as well as basic fault diagnostics. The website has forums, both for the novice and the professional, and parts can be purchased here at very competitive prices. It came into being in 2000, and developed on from a mailing list that was set up for professional engineers to talk to each other about white goods. It was in fact a resource for sharing advice and information between engineers, but has since seen none trade areas blossoming into a comprehensive website with access for all. The founder wanted to improve resources for individual service agents in particular, and this he has done with great success.
My husband came across them purely by accident two years ago when our dishwasher broke down. He was unsure of the fault, and as he suspected the circuit board he needed clarification from experts that this was an accurate diagnosis. Posting on the forum was easy, and within hours professionals had verified that he was indeed correct. They also gave him guidance on fitting, and this was a valuable aid in addition to the diagram he had printed off from the Bosch spares website of the internal workings, as the appliance was indeed a Bosch. Purchasing the part was easy as he went to a company called Espares to order it, but he has since used UK Whitegoods themselves to source parts, and has found them to be quick for delivery and very competitively priced.
The website also helps when you have a fault in an appliance, lack the technical expertise, and wish to locate an engineer through its database. Certain standards are set which engineers have to adhere to to be allowed to be on their database. This means that a quick online check using their site, should provide you with the name of a reputable tradesperson in your area should you not have the benefit of a handyman in your home.
So having given you a quick insight into the site here is a little more detail about the home page, and what you can access from it. First of all the home page is well presented and very easy to follow. It has soothing blue and white colours, ideal if you are feeling harassed by the demise of a household item. Three main areas are circled which really form the basis of their work. Firstly help and advice, secondly do you need an engineer, and thirdly my husband's dream - do you need a spare part?
These are the main areas of the site, and also down the left hand side are links to other interesting areas. These include including articles with tips for purchase, including guides on buying washing machines from an impartial standpoint. There is also a review section where you can post a review of your appliance and these are rather similar to Dooyoo in style.
I can't tell you how much money this site has saved us over the last 3 years. In that time we have had 4 breakdowns in our tumble dryer, washing machine, dishwasher and oven. In each case my husband went to the public forums and sought help from an engineer. The part was ordered and the appliance restored to new - no call out fee or home engineer required. Now having said all this my husband is somewhat of a techie and can usually turn his hand to repairs, but he needs guidance as he has not been trained . The forum is well supported by professionals who are more than happy to guide and advise.
I have also learnt so much form the section devoted to the purchase of white goods in general, which has some outstanding tips on aspects to consider as well as whether quality is always reflected by price.
The site is easy to navigate and runs very quickly in my experience.
Only last week we had the pleasure of their company again for our ailing washing machine, which decided to stop working just after we returned from holiday. The drum didn't turn. My husband was unsure of the problem, and uttered the rare words "we might have to buy new!" However, I reminded him of his favourite website, and he posted his question on the forum. Sure enough answer was forthcoming- it was probably the brushes in the motor. A link was given to a YouTube video posted by a white goods member, who showed how to replace them in a Bosch machine using a step by step process. The brushes were £35 from Bosch, but only £6.50 from UK Whitegoods, so within 2 days they arrived. A few minutes later my husband fitted them, and the machine was once again trundling through its cycle.
For anyone with a technical mind prepared to learn, repairs are possible with the advice they give, but you have to know your limitations and keep safety in mind. If you are not up to the job at least you will be able to find a reputable engineer using their online service.
In our case I am delighted not to have to spend money on a new machine as mine is back to working order, and hasn't taken up space in landfill. If it wasn't for this website and the superb forum and members who post regularly on there, this would not have been possible.
