Advantages: Infinte resource of guitar tabs, simple to grab.

Disadvantages: The search function occasionaly confuses due to default setting

This is the first place I stumbled across after getting my guitar at the age of 10..and I'm beyond infinity thankful for that, not only has this site nurtured millions of budding guitar enthusiasts to the coveted title of guitar god, but it also has expanded over the years to have one of the busiest and friendliest communities revolving around the subject available and also become popular in the media, often hosting interviews with the current heroes of the guitar world and up to date news on upcoming albums and what's going to be the next big thing.

The layout somehow manages to be simple, extremely functional, yet retain an extremely cool and memorable look. The search function provides the user with the ability to narrow down the constantly increasing number of guitar tabs and chords to that of a single band/ artist, or any song of a certain title. As the music is written and rated by the user, its not rare to find a number of duplicate pages or something mistyped, but usually the rating system will guide you towards the better option. It also has a number of sort functions such as 'Most Viewed' and 'Top Rated', these always help inspire me to pickup my guitar and play around for a bit, I'm sure they'll have the same effect on anyone else.

The website also sports the amazing program 'Guitar Pro', there's a number of available releases of the software, but this basically looks at the downloadable files from the website, and can play the tabs along to the song, while you keep up, very education, very fun and slightly like Guitar Hero if you're struggling to picture it.

I highly recommend this website to anyone interested in picking up and playing guitar for the first time, or anyone looking to play that awesome new song with the cool solo that will make peoples eyes water, because it's Ultimate Guitar is guaranteed to have it.
