Advantages: cash prizes, lots of games
Disadvantages: weekly draws, some games slow
Uproar uk, in their own words a site where the fun never stops. Well Is it as much fun as they say, what games will you find and more importantly can you win real dosh??? Well uproar is quite a slick looking site, you can play as a guest but that wont allow you to win any of the vast prizes on offer (that’s a joke). However registration is easy and fast and you get to choose your own nickname to use when playing. Once you log in you are confronted with the Home page, here you can see exactly what games are available, how many players in each game and which games offer prizes too. The games themselves are varied and extremely well designed and playable, the well known games being your old TV favourites. Family fortunes: You all remember this and this adaptation of the popular game is one of the best ones. You pit your wits against a varying number of opponents and have three rounds of play. Here you have to find the top answers to a question that 100 people were asked and the percentage of people who said your choice becomes your score, however you get only 3 lives, so choose wisely! The topics are very wide and varied, however I have come across the odd wrong answer even. One example here that shocked me was: Question; Name 6 things children do to get pocket money? So your thing ink, baby-sit, paper-round, well believe it or not one of the answers was * Have sex*, rather worrying don’t you think….lol. This was a one off though and Ive only seen it once, after the 3 normal rounds you get the big money round, here you have 60 seconds to try and find the top answer to 5 questions. You then get a score, so many draw entries for beating others and so many for each top answer you managed to get right, then fingers crossed as you go into a weekly draw for £50. Bingo Blitz: Everyone’s favourite Bingo! Here the prize on offer is a £5 Amazon voucher, which is drawn every 2 h
ours. To be in with a chance of this most coveted prize you firstly need to get a full house on your bingo cards. You are given 3 and the shape of the winning Bingo card changes each game, so in actual fact, you only need complete the shape on one card to claim bingo. 57 numbers are drawn and this takes around 8 minutes (not over brain taxing in speed I hasten to add). This is ideal to play if say you are rating on Ciao, as the slowness allows you to switch between windows with ease. This is an easy one and well worth a go as yes I actually have won a voucher on this one. There is also another Bingo, Full House Bingo, but this is full house only, meaning every single number on your ticket and this would win you a given amount which goes up all the time until someone wins, it has been over £100 but it’s not very often won, so this I tend not to bother with. Catchphrase: Another TV fave, and this ones a good substitute, again you are teamed with various opponents and here you get to choose an avatar, for those who do not know it is a character, so you can choose what you look like to others playing. The idea of course, guess the catchphrase in a limited amount of time, the faster earning you more points. These are either blindingly easy or extremely hard, but its well designed and runs well too. After each catchphrase if you have typed the correct answer in, you get a shot at the bonus, hit enter to reveal a square and try and guess the catchphrase, again the less squares you reveal, the more points you get for it. At the end of the normal Catchphrases you get the same game as winners on the show get across the board correctly guessing the answers gets you extra draw entries. Again here you are entered into a weekly draw to win £50 Puzzle –A –Go_Go Choose your look again here and meet others in the lobby to wait and play, here you can chat to other players via a ca
rtoon style bubble from your mouth!!. Once in the game you play against 2 other opponents, and get a word to guess, it tells you the category of the word and shows you the number of spaces in it, all you need to do is take turns and guess a letter, if correct it is added to the word and you get a chance to solve it for points. You can still chat too whilst playing to the opponents in your room, for example, you can tell them well done or hard luck, depending on how it goes! The winner overall gets prize passes, again this is a 2 hour draw and you get the huge sum of, wait for it £3 if you actually get drawn! Trivia There are various trivia sections, entertainment, sports and more, these speak for themselves, a series of questions on chosen categories which the more you correctly guess the more entries you get, this one carries a weekly prize of £15. Also under this is picture blitz, a celebrity that you must reveal, after squares are removed one at a time. So much fun eh! Casino Two games here that you can win on if your lucky enough: One-armed Bandits Booty is a poor substitute for a fruit machine, the idea being you start with 99 credits and can bet up to 5 each spin in order to get more points. For every 100 you win you get one draw entry and you can play as long as you wish, however this game is slow, boring and has completely no appeal whatsoever in the fun stakes. However this one does have the weekly draw prize of £100, so if you are prepared to be bored silly then maybe it’s worth entering on the off chance! Big Video Deal poker The classic poker game here, so if like me you have no idea how to play it, then forget it!, however if you are a poker master then have a go, each game offers you the chance to win the accumulating pot, which at present stands at £250, or if not you enter a weekly draw for £25.Again a well designed game that looks good too. Th
ese are only a few of the games on offer at www.uproar.co.uk There are more offering prize draws and also some arcade games just for fun. Apart from the in game chat function you can use to talk to other players; you can load a separate chat to talk to anyone in any game at that time. However I can’t tell you a lot about this, as I tend not to bother! Uproar also offers you the chance to add their games to your own website You get a choice of a few games to add and you will receive cash for anyone who registers at uproar from your site… Now after reading this, you have a fair idea of the games and fun you can or cannot have at uproar uk, well if you have some free time, they are worth a go, as I mentioned several times, they have a well thought up design and are smooth and some are very enjoyable to play too, the television spin offs are definitely the best and extremely true to the shows in look and play. So if you like these teasers and puzzles them I’m sure you will love this site, but it would be nice if the prizes were a little higher and more frequent I feel in order to keep you playing as an incentive.

- 01/08/01 Hi, A well written op. Don't use uproar much anymore, I spend more time on flipside. I get bombarded with e-mails begging me to come back though.

- 31/07/01 Well described Ana, I love the 'puzzle a go go' and have won about 7-8 times. It isn't much but it adds an extra element to just playing a game for nothing. |

- 28/07/01 Thanks for making me understand this site. I think I registered a while ago and keep getting e-mails from them which I usually ignore. I might give it a go now. |
