Advantages: You can play five times per day.

Disadvantages: Low payouts.

Well, I bet you've guessed what this site is all about by now, haven't you?

Yes, it's yet ANOTHER online lottery site. It operates as a part of Uproar, and so you do have to be registered with them to play, but it is a separate site from the actual uproar.co.uk games site.

The idea behind uproarlotto.co.uk is similar to all the other online lotteries... choose you numbers, check your mail every night, and see if you've won a million smackeroonies.

This particular lottery requires you to pick seven numbers in the range 1-50... the odds of scooping the Jackpot therefore are slightly better than bananalotto (see separate op) as it doesn't require you to match up that one specific "banana number" in order to win the jackpot - with uproarlotto you simply need your seven chosen numbers in any order to win a million.

The other really good thing that this site has going for it is the chance to play five times per day... yes, that's right FIVE.

When you come to play the game, you are presented with the usual grid which you simply click on to pick your numbers, and it has a randomiser should you wish for the computer to pick the numbers for you. (With five chances, I usually play three sets of my own numbers and two random sets each night)

There isn't an option to save your favourite numbers like bananalotto has, but the site does have an automatic login feature, if you activate it in your profile.

The mode of play is slightly different to other sites, in that you chose your numbers and then click the "GO!" button. This then pops up another window with some banners in it (most link to games on the uproar main site) and then you click a banner to confirm your entry and ANOTHER window is popped up with the target of the banner displayed in it. (You can close it immediately though if you like - the registration of numbers is almost instant - it's by far the quickest
that I have seen in any online lottery)

The only criticism that I have of this site is the stingy prize structure. You have to match five numbers for a pathetic prize of £1, and this is the lowest prize.

The full payouts are:

5 Numbers - £1
6 Numbers - £50
7 Numbers - £1,000,000

Except for the jackpot, this compares very badly with the other two major online lotteries. Both bananalotto and thedailydraw.com have better payouts and offer prizes for matching less numbers... but then they only give you one chance per day to win, whereas with uproarlotto.co.uk you get five...

The site is nicely laid out though, and pleasing on the eye. Registration is quick and painless and doesn't result in spam (the only e-mail sent is to confirm entries and to give you the results) and they don't ask any awkward questions when you sign up.

It might be very, very hard to win a prize on uproarlotto.co.uk, but look at it this way - it's another five FREE chances to win £1,000,000 each day.

If you play this, bananalotto, and thedailydraw.com, then you give yourself seven chances per day to win £1,000,000... and all without paying a penny.

It's well worth a look.

UPDATE: 26/5/01

Uproarlotto has recently had a bit of a revamp and this affects some aspects of the game.

The major change is to the payouts. The jackpot still remains at £1,000,000 for matching all seven numbers with a £1,000 prize now for matching 6 numbers (a big improvement). However, there is now no cash payout for five numbers, but considering the previous low payout this is not a major loss.

Matching five numbers now gets you entry to a weekly prize draw for £100, four numbers enters you into a draw for £50, and three numbers is now a recognised win and gets you entry into a draw for £10.

None of the draw prizes
are great, and they're still being a bit stingy in not offering instant prizes for matching anything less than six numbers, but at least the 6 number payout is now more generous.

The other major change to the game is that although you can still play five times per day, you can now only play once every hour. I find this a major inconvenience as I used to make all five entries to once.

I suppose that Uproar has done this to try and encourage players to stay on sponsor sites for longer - but it doesn't work! Not with me anyway. I just come across to Dooyoo for an hour! :-)

The site is also a bit harder to navigate, with more windows popping up and the removal of the confirmation feature. (You are no longer asked to confirm your entries - they are entered as soon as you click the banner - a la Bananalotto and Daily Draw)

It's still worth playing, but having to spend at least five hours online in order to get all your entries in is mighty annoying...

And so they lose a star. I'm downgrading my rating from four stars to three.
