Advantages: Good way to get music to the public
Disadvantages: Better pomoting strategies needed
Turn up those Speakers / Headphones and get ready for some new Talent thats better than todays, "Lucky"' Millionaire Artists in the charts! Or Turn up those Speakers / Headphones and get ready to start making your own music for £££ or even $$$ or even FFF (Francs)! On Vitaminic.co.uk there are millions of new songs and artists! And the best part of it, nearly all the songs are free! You can easily browse the categories that suits you. You can then sample the music by clicking on "listen" (you will need Realplayer G2) this lets you listen to the song, but it is not crystal clear so it downloads faster just for a taster! Then if you decide you like the song you click on "Download high quality" on that song. The website is so easy to use, just like Yahoo, or doodoo. If you cant find any music that you like then your in the wrong category or you have a slow connection and you can't sample many tracks as you'll be there for ever! A very important note: If you have a slow modem, connection or whatever, you have a problem. I recommend that you leave Mp3 downloading until you get a Fast Connection otherwise you will explode with frustration! Vitaminic is similar to Mp3.com but there are a few differences, Vitaminic has less in the way of other features such as "my mp3" where you store tracks that you like and can download them at a later stage. Vitaminic is a bit more colourful than most mp3 downloading sites which makes a change. I do prefer this site to mp3.com, their front page is much more appealing and a better welcome to the site. You can register as a fan to get a newsletter from them for latest news and future plans. It is a simpler site to use. There are a few downsides to actually being a Musician, it has a poor promoting strategies which I think will pick up over time, you have to do the major part of the work in promoting yourself. There is less to do on the site than Mp3.c
om but they obviously want it to just be a site where artists put up their music and people download them which is understandable. This website seems quite new, i do not know how long they have been going but it is an excellent website tool for musicians and listeners. The best feature they have over Mp3.com is the fact that they have several websites, i.e one for France, Germany and many other European countries, which is also in their language and more helpful to artists. Even though there are many different sites you can see all the artists when browsing for music that are on each website so I could download someones music from Italy using the UK site even though he uses the Italy site. If you like a particular Artist then can I suggest that you buy their Albums and or singles to support them as they have done great work. All the Artists come from all over the world, including the UK. If you love Making Music then this is the place to start! You get £££ / $$$ as people start to buy your albums or singles. Some artists have made a lot of money. My friend is on there as I did a website for him (www.baywaterbridgesociety.com) My favourite category is Electronic, I also like Rock! If you like one song, you'll be back for more! ======== Misc: still applies to Vitaminic. I was very annoyed when someone else commented that the "artists" on Mp3.com were worthless hopefuls. That realy did P**S me off BIG time. I want to make something very very clear. Mp3.com artists DO NOT have these million £ or $ companies behind them for support. They DO NOT have expensive studios with all the latest equipment to go to and record. They CANNOT burn millions of copies of their music on to CD's. They put 20000 x more effort into writing, recording and performing their music than POP groups. They DO, however, produce 20000 x better music than commercial POP groups. POP groups, now how much effort do they rea
ly put in, the only skills they need are to do these silly dances and mime their words, most cant sing but of course they have millions of £ / $ to back them up and get excellent quality teachers. I think its time to realise that POP will not last for much longer, despite the fact CD sales have gone up. I would also like to again comment that Rock 'n Roll should NOT be included in the POP section. Happy Downloading!
