Pricey pointless search engine (whatuseek.com)

Advantages: Relevant results occasionally

Whatuseek.com started off as a website working as a simple search engine and reached it's peak about 8 years ago where you were able to search numerous aspects of internet life including e-bay auctions.

Results are still brought to you quickly and the main reason for this is probably the fact that there is a $16.99 annual sign-up fee to submit your site and all sites are thoroughly vetted which means you don't have result pages full of worthless info.

On the other hand due to the enforced price system, not a great deal of sites have opted to submit themselves there. So much so that a search for "English cuisine" comes up with just 1 link to a Indian and Malay restaurant and I tried tweaking this to other nationalities and found no links at all. I'd say that due to the lack of search results, it's basically one of the most useless and expensive search engines there is out there.

The purple and white layout looks professional but more appropriate for a company specialising in a completely different service. In fact, it looks far to business related to be a search engine at all. Taking into account their domain name maybe they should become an opticians instead!

Summary: Waste of money
