Advantages: Pays well, Interesting and relevant, Simple and straightforward
Disadvantages: Only pay when you reach £50, Not as many paid polls as there used to be
What is YouGov? Basically, YouGov pays you to vote on selected political and other current affairs polls that it runs from time to time. The results of its polls are often published in newspapers and on TV. They also claim to have been the most accurate at predicting the result of the 2001 general election based on how their members have voted. Most of the paid polls pay you 50p. There are lots of other surveys, polls and news items on the site, which are generally relevant and current. When there is a paid poll available, you will receive an email with a link to take you to the poll. The amount of polls varies from time to time, generally one per week, but if you are not quick, the poll will have closed. There are a number of polling/surveys sites on the web, but this one actually pays, and gives you the opportunity to build up some cash, as the polls are regular. They are also easy to complete, as they are almost all questions with answers that you select from, e.g. "If there was a general election tomorrow, which of the following parties would you vote for?" and you can vote Don't Know if unsure. There are very few questions where you are asked to enter text, e.g. to give an exact opinion on something. There is a link on the site where you can check your account balance. You get £1 for registering, and your balance is updated as soon as you complete a poll. When your account reaches £50 (which it will do, given time), you will be sent a cheque through the post. I have been paid once by YouGov, am over halfway to my next cheque, so it really is worthwhile to join. You also get £1 for every member that you actively refer. The site is well designed and very easy to navigate. I would very much recommend registering with YouGov. Even if you are not really interested in current affairs, there is the opportunity to make a reasonable amount of money for your time.
