Disadvantages: Woke me up!

It's coming up to me and my partners one year together, she has always wanted a canvas print with either us 2, or in the future possibly our kids (long way into the future!), so I decided to surprise her with a canvas with one of our...better photo's on, unfortunatly there wasn't many of just us 2 looking 'lovey', I anyhow managed to find one on my laptop.

Looking around most places cost £50+ plus £8 delivery for the canvas, however I stiumbled apon yourimage2canvas.com and the prices were much cheaper, free delivery on orders over £25 and the canvas itself was £39.65 compared to the £50+ it has been elsewhere. After looking at various reviews (well, the one dooyoo review there was) I decided to go for this site, uploaded my photo and got a classic black and white 19" x 12" canvas ordered (customised size as well...).

This morning it arrived, in...ALOT of packaging, 2/3 layers of bubble wrap, a cardboard protector over the canvas front and selotape keeping the bubblewrap tight, it took me a good 5 minutes to get to see the canvas, having looked around a little AFTER I had ordered it (and knowing there was no refunds) I found a few negative reviews, so I had worried...however, the canvas turned out very very well indeed, I was worried it would be distorted or pixilated in someway but neither of these happend and what was produced was a lovely year anniversary present for my girlfriend, I think she likes it anyway!

The picture quality is almost perfect, in fact, it probably is perfect, I cannot pick a fault with it and although the camera it was taken with was pretty good it's a fairly close up picture and any wrong resolution or pixels would be picked up instantly, somehow though they're not, I chose a black and white canvas print as I always think they look better and more classic, the black stands out very well and...well, so does the white I guess.

The website is very easy to use, there are 5 simple steps and it's idiot proof, after each simple and talked through step, you click next, until before you know it you've ordered it, it really is simple and cannot go wrong, you can even customise which size you want to fit perfectly with the picture. You can see what your canvas will look like on a virtual 'wall', although I found the canvas to look much smaller on the wall than it is in real life, it's actually quite large in real life, I was impressed.

Unfortunatly, with the present and the whole point of the website being personalised there's no offers of a refund if anything goes wrong, so alot of the time people will be putting trust in these people to come up with the goods, I can imagine it being rather easy to accidently get a wrong size or for the picture to be pixilated and a ruined canvas for £50ish you are stuck with, I luckily had no such problem and was very happy with the final piece, just need somewhere to hang it now!

The only problem I had with this site...they woke me up at 8am to get me to sign for it, pah, what sort of company wakes a sleeping student in their holidays at 8am, I don't know!

Overall, I believe this site for me at least was a trial and error, I couldn't afford to get it wrong but at the same time I couldn't afford to go to a more expensive cavnas place (romantic, I know!) who could get it wrong anyway, this was the easiest to use and cheapest site that I found, it was certainly a shot in the dark and I'm glad I took it, it's a personalised and meaningful anniversary present which hopefully my girlfriend loves, the picture quality was perfect, the canvas looks quality, it was cheap, idiot proof website and good protection through the posting. I can imagine people having problems with badly pixelated pictures or with 'squashed' pictures, half the websites I uploaded the same picture too however said the resolution wasn't good enough, somehow though yourimage2canvas managed to get it to work.

For that reason, I will most likely be using this site again next time I wish to get a personalised canvas.

Summary: Great site and brilliant company
