Advantages: Content
Disadvantages: Controversy
Youtube is a website that should be known to the large majority of us, probably everyone in fact.
It is surely the most popular website where you can watch free clips and short videos, the largest direct competitor is google videos, but I think they are quite far behind.
You can watch videos for free on youtube simply by clicking into the website and then searching for what you are interested in using their search engine, and you can also load up videos yourself, in fact all the videos available have been uploaded by the public, Youtube do not produce thier own videos, although they have commercial agreements with third partis to promote clips and videos.
I only watch vidoes, I do not upload them, so unfortunately I cannot advise on how easy it is to upload your stuff.
The website is quite fast, but be careful that when you run a clip, it does take a lot of band on your connection, and unless you have a good connection, you may find that there is some slowness.
I like to watch music videos, and I have created my login to then save my own playlists, the memory space you are given is pretty much unlimited, however, I have also noted that videos thend to be taken out quite regularly, which means you may have to reedit the order of the videos in your playlist.
Being such a massive and popular hit, Youtube could not escape controversy. On some subjects there are far too many comments posted by idiots, racists, losers. This tend to happen a lot with football clips, the most popular ones cannot escape all sort of comments and also political clips.
Although one of the things I like most about Youtube is that it allows many vidoes that would be censored on BBC (for example Israeli colonies pelting with stones Palestinian mothers and kids on the way to school, or, clearly from a different source, the launching of rockets from South Lebanon to civilian targets in Israel) the fact thta Youtube lends itself to all sort of propagandas, ends up with the comment space being full of people insulting each other.
Still, I conside rthis a great website and I surely recommend you have a look.
Summary: I like it
