Advantages: great video streaming, fantastic content and quality control, runs quickly, changes the way we watch

Disadvantages: a few pesky adverts here and there! Bah!

Youtube.com is a revolutionary video sharing\hosting website owned by Google. Since 2005 it has been changing the face of visual media, and given superb accessibility to all forms of videos, as well as spawning a great deal of video-bloggers, internet celebrities and memes.

Quality of videos is pretty superb, especially for the flash-based format. You can line up a quick-list of videos and sit back and watch all your favourite sitcoms, news programmes and music vids. The site has also given rise to much exclusive TV and Music news and footage which is mostly great.

Sadly, highly commercial or contraversial videos are frequently removed from the site due to copyright infringement, particularly FOX programming. Pornographic videos are also removed fortunately, very quickly - the site is very well moderated and looked after. Despite being "Down for maintenance" every now and then however, it generally runs very fast and all the videos stream properly.

Its a shame that Youtube have now started putting adverts before and during their more popular videos, much to the anger and confusion of many Youtubers. This is currently just tolerable, so lets hope it doesn't get any worse from here! Overall a great website that you can't really do without! If you haven't seen it already, you must have been living in a cave for the last 5 or 6 years.
