Advantages: personal, lots of features, no junk mail

ZZN is a pretty good idea - if you have a website on spiders or madonna (or whatever!) you can set up email addresses like name@spiders.zzn.com or name@madonna.zzn.com.

So far, so good. It's pretty straightforward to set up, and it's easy for other people to sign up for an address. It means that your email address is even more personal than one from "another.com" and I find it useful as an address I let people contact me from my website with.

The most annoying thing about this free email service is the constant advertising of free services (basically junk mail) that you get every time you log in. Because of this, logging in can be very slow. However, if you don't sign up for any services, you receive very little junk mail (I don't get any) because the address is so personal.

There are lots of good features for this email, such as the ability to make it a POP account ( so you could read your emails through another account e.g. Hotmail). You can also get mail notifications sent to other accounts, ICQ or a pager. This feature means that it is especially good for occasional mail, because you don't have to go and check it every day. When you receive a mail, you get sent a mail in another account that you do check, with the subject and date on it.

I have been using the email notification quite successfully, but I recently tried to configure the POP cervice so i could read the mails from my hotmail account. This failed, because the host name (apop.zzn.com) was not recognised. A lot of the little services like this are unreliable.

I recommend this email if you are desperate for a personal email you will only use occasionally. The snazzy features may require a lot of time and effort to use and zzn has very unhelpful service.
