Advantages: Easy to use.

Disadvantages: None.

I want to share with readers the experience that I have had with my iron. In a lifetime, I have probably owned a dozen or so irons, though this one is my favourite, probably because times change, technology advances and design gets better.

ON PURCHASING.

When you buy this iron, you receive it neatly wrapped in a cardboard box with instructions (albeit basic), and the lead of the iron is sealed on.

GUARANTEE

Your iron is guaranteed for one year against defective manufacture. Mine is in its third year and still going strong.

FEATURES

The iron is very attractive in green and white and what I liked about it was its design and easy handling and lightness compared with other irons that I have used. This may not seem important to some, although when you spend a lot of time ironing and have ill health that makes even the lightest of tasks difficult, then it matters a great deal.

The iron has a spray shot button which is useful when ironing things that have been overly dried which otherwise cause difficulty and a spray of steam from under the iron which I use constantly.

The settings button is standard and takes you from the coolest of temperatures to the hottest, although since using the steam, I tend to keep the temperature setting in the same place.

This is a 2200W iron and I find this sufficient for my needs.

Automatic cut off.

THE IRON IN USE.

This is where this iron beats others that I have tried in the past. It really does glide over your ironing and makes light work of it. It is easy to fill, and doesn’t splash like other steam irons that I have had. It heats quickly and although this is a corded iron as opposed to cordless ones that are available, I don’t find that the cord gets worn as much as on older versions of irons because the ergonomic design means that you never get the cord knotted up like in days gone by.

CLEANING

The iron does not have a self cleaning plate, and I find that if you wipe it regularly and keep an eye on the water level, then the old problem of sticking does not occur. The surface of the iron surprised me because it looks and feels like non stick and I find that the minimum of cleaning effort is needed with the iron.

SO WHY DID I CHOSE A BOSCH ?

I know that Bosch’s reputation is good, and the feature that drew me to this iron was the design initially and the lightness of it. Now, after having used it for a while, I would say that one the most advantageous features of the iron is the self cut off feature, which means that gone are the days when you have forgotten to unplug the iron. Oh yes, the memory forgets, but the iron does not. If unused, the iron will automatically cut out, and for me this is a real plus.

I also liked the fact that YOU are in control of the amount of steam, and that the steam flow is adjustable.

There are much more expensive, and much more fancy irons on the market, but I chose one that I trust, one that looked good, one that I knew would last, rather than one that hosted a whole load of gimmicks. After all, all I want to do is my ironing, and this iron does all I require of it, plus the extra bonus of being “intelligent”.

PRICE : £49.99 which may seem expensive, but I do expect it to last me the next ten years at least, and the solidity of the design tells me that it will.

I need a new iron and like the sound of this one,and the fact that it will cut off suits me fine as I'm always having to leave mine to answer the phone. Great informative review. xx

50 quid for an iron??? Disgusting, but then I refuse to own an iron believing that life is definitely too short for that horrible job!
