Breville Vin243 Iron......

Advantages: Really reliable, good price, easy to use, lightweight to hold, good features
Disadvantages: None from me
Although it pains me to say it, with some of the money that I was lucky enough to receive as a Christmas present, I had to spend it on purchasing a new iron! We have a rather expensive year ahead as I am getting married so I'm having to be very responsible with my cash and seeing as my old Philips iron was really playing up then I had to put the needs of my rather creased clothes first! I didn't want to spend a fortune on the iron, to be honest, I only use it on a needs must basis and if I can get away with not ironing something then I will and this resulted in me purchasing quite a low priced iron. The one in question is the Breville VIN243 Steam Iron and here are my thoughts on the product.
I purchased the Iron from the Sainsbury's supermarket. It cost me around the £14.00 mark which in my opinion is quite cheap for an iron. I did a little bit of shopping around but not a great deal as I knew that I wanted a low cost iron and as I had a quick look on the internet and saw that the general retail price is the £15.00 it was very convenient for me to pop to the local supermarket.
The iron arrived, well packaged and upon opening I saw that it was a bulky looking iron and it came with a one year manufacturer's guarantee as well as a small instruction booklet. The iron was mainly white in colour and then part of the upper section of the iron is purple in colour. There is the Breville logo situated on the bottom of the iron. In my opinion the iron looks well put together and feels very sturdy.
The iron has a handle that allows you to grip onto it really well when using it and gliding it around on your chosen fabric. The iron has wattage of 2000w and there is just over 2 metres of cable on the iron so you can plug this in but set your ironing board up a fair distance away from the power point. There is a dial on the centre of the iron that allows you to set the desired temperature, I tend to have to do most of my ironing on the highest setting and the iron is very quick to heat up, there is a light that will indicate that it is reaching the temperature.
The iron has a water chamber and will store up to 250ml of water. The first few things that I tried ironing with this product were some simple vest tops and T shirts, I noticed that the stainless steel soleplate will work its way over the fabric with ease and on these items I didn't need to use the steam or water functions. It was when I went to iron my jeans that I was able to take advantage of the steam shot and it really did help with getting the stubborn creases out.
What I liked was that the iron was very lightweight to use so it didn't feel at all as if I was having to add any pressure onto the fabrics when it was in use. I would be more than happy to recommend the iron as I think that I have got great value for money with it. I have been using it on a fairly (!) regular basis and I have used it on a number of different items of clothing made form a variety of materials. I guess the settings are quite basic but I really don't require anything more from my iron.
5 out of 5 from me
