I have owned an Elna 1010 sewing machine for a couple of years. I've used it for everything - dress & clothes making and taking-in (heavy use for am-dram), and general stitching and repairs. Although this is the baby of the Elna range, it has a very solid feel, and has been very reliable (self-oiling), with only light cleaning required. I used it to re-stitch the seam of a heavy (old) canvas tent, a task with which it coped admirably, without any odd noises or complaints.
