Morphy Richards 40685
Advantages: Well designed and simple to use, good looks, easy and quick to use, good temperature controls
Disadvantages: A smaller cord than many other irons on the market
Having over the years owned a number of irons which I have been mostly unimpressed with I recently decided I was going to go for a brand I had not tried before and so after finding the Morphy Richards turbo on sale I decided that it was worth a shot and that if it didn't work great then at least it was not as much as I have spent on some other irons in the past but was it worth the risk?
The iron itself is well designed with an easy to fill water compartment (made easier by a well thought out and put together water filler cup that has a fully closed off spout), simple and well placed controls and a shape that makes handling the iron very easy.
The iron is one of the lighter ones I have used and thanks to its shape it is very easy to run over all items of clothing without too much effort.
The part of the design I don't personally like is I find the cord, whilst good with its flexibility, is slightly on the short side (it is 2m) in comparison to other irons I have used and if I had to change things with this I would make it another meter or 2 long.
Ease of use:
The iron has easy to change temperature controls which make it easy to iron a number of different materials without having to turn off and take 10 minutes fiddling around with a number of varying options to get to the desired one. The temperature controls other than being easy also work well as they seem to change the temperature (other, more expensive irons I have owned I have found do not seem to alter as the controls seem to suggest they will) quickly and so this saves time when you have different materials to iron.
This is a well designed and thought out iron that looks excellent and works brilliantly well. Providing great value for money from a well known name in Morphy Richards it has simple controls at the heart of it but makes sure it does the simple things well with dripping from the plate not something you need worry about (something other irons have issues with). Quick and easy to fill with water and lightweight this iron is one of the best I have ever owned and I would recommend it to all.
Summary: A great value for money iron that is well thought out and executed
