Advantages: Good value for money and irons very well
Disadvantages: Lilac bits
Our Morphy Richards steam iron (model 40865) is a great iron that cost us a fair amount at the time (£35) but it has lasted well and been a great investment. This iron is white and lilac and comes with a handy 2m cord which is nice and long but we still occasionally have to use the adaptor if we are ironing larger items such as bedding / curtains etc.
What I personally really like about this iron is that it takes tap water so that is really handy and also it is so easy to fill at the front of the iron. I hated it when we had to practically tip our old iron over onto its back in order to be able to fill it up with water. It was such a hassle.
This iron is amazing at getting creases out of all sorts of fabric, including heavy denim. I like a nice straight crease down the fron of my heavy dark denim jeans and this iron does a great job. It has a good amount of evenly spaced steam coming out of it (or you can turn the steam off if you prefer) but what I really like about this iron is that it gives you a really POWERFUL jet of steam which really puts in a nice clean sharp crease and holds it in place so the crease will last for days afterwards. This is really impressive.
It has a good sturdy feel to it too and the handle is curved in such a shape as to make holding it a piece of cake and allows me to get into all the little lad's smaller items of clothing and my other half's flimsy tops - yes! I am a man who irons ladies!!
I also like the fact that the sole plate is non stick and self cleaning so this saves a lot of hassle too for me as it is usually me who has to clean things such as irons and ovens when they get burnet. Overall this is a great iron. It is neither too heavy nor too lightweight and I like the fact that the front is nice and pointed allowing me to get into all the little fiddly bits of my wife's blouses.
Great product and really recommended.
Summary: Great all round appliance
