Advantages: Low price, removes creases, lightweight design.
Disadvantages: No auto shut off, no anti drip function and residue build up on iron
When we first moved into our home 2 years ago I need a vital piece of equipment....an Iron and when I was browsing my local Somerfield I came across this iron for the bargain price of £4.99.
I must be a rare person as I actually enjoy ironing and my other half rarely has to get the iron out as it all gets done for him. As I have never had to buy and iron before I was not sure what qualities were needed so I saw the price and recognised a quality brand name and off I went to the till with my bargain purchase and it has lasted well.....

Back in 1935 irons, toasters and fires first made their way into people's homes. Classed as luxury items, Donal Morphy teamed up with Charles Richards to work together at an electric fire company, Morphy as an engineer and Richards as a salesman.
From irons, kettles, toasters, hair dryers, vacuum cleaners and coffee makers Morphy Richards has found its way into almost every home offering great products at reasonable prices.

The iron features an aluminium soleplate, that glides across the clothes.
The cushioned grip handle provides comfort and portability, while a neon indicator light keeps you informed of the temperature towards the bottom of the iron.
The cord is 2 metres long so you will need to be located quite close to a plug to be able to iron shirts at the very end of the ironing board.
The iron gets to a temperature of 1800W which is pretty hot as I found out a few times when I accidentally caught my hand on the iron.
A 400ml water tank will allow you to get through at least one washing load before needing to refill and of course you can adjust the level of steam by adjusting the steam setting to the top of the handle.
The water can be added to the tank by gently pushing the white seal upwards and the plastic chunk will drop away allowing you ti fill up the tank.
Unfortunately this iron only has the basic functions but what could I expect for just £4.99??
There is now automatic shut off so it is vital that you remember not too leave it too long on the ironing board or leave the iron unattended for long periods of time.
The iron despite its small price, certainly provided me with the desired results, effectively removing creases from my partner's shirts and leaving my clothes crease free.
There is also a button which provides a spray of water onto clothes to help remove creases and this comes in pretty handy with some stubborn shirts.
The variable temperature control is easy to use and the red light to the bottom of the iron will indicate when the iron is heated up and ready to roll.
The iron is fairly compact in size and not too heavy to use and I have only just had to replace it as the wire was starting to show through the cord after me wrapping it into knots all of the time.
The iron gave a good performance and certainly would save you pennies on other iron's offering the same facilities as this is one of the cheapest out there and the performance is pretty hard to compete with.
My main bug bear with the iron was the build up on the sole plate which I found difficult to clean and on occassion it left a residue on my clothes resulting in them having to be washed again and on the odd occasion there would be dripping onto the clothes even though it was at the required temperature.
So if you want my honest opinion, this is a great bargain buy it will certainly get the creases out of your clothes and is very competitively priced.
Summary: A great bargain iron but it won't last forever.
