Having used this Iron for nearly a year, I am completely and absolutely delighted with it! And I’d like to walk you through my long term use of this iron.
I love the look of this iron! It’s got a sleek and dark look with gold accents, and this makes it look very stylish.
Using this iron is a real breeze. All you need to do, is once plugged in, select the type of material you are ironing using the big dial on the iron (which is on top of the water tank). You’ll know you’ve reached the right temperature when the red light comes on. It is easy to hold thanks to its comfortable grip and it feels of just the right weight at about 1.6kg without water.
If you need steam, you’ll find that there are 6 steam settings available. These are reachable via a slider towards the front of the ironing handle. There is also the standard water spray button to help get rid of stubborn creases.
There is also a transparent water tank about 350ml in size. It’s great as you can easily see how much water is in the tank and from daily use; I haven’t had to refill it many times while ironing.
This Philips iron uses its 'Steam glide' technology which really does make a huge difference when it comes to ironing clothes quickly and effortlessly. You can also steam clothes and items using the vertical steam function, which makes ironing trickier items such as curtains that bit easier (for starters you don’t need to take you curtains down to iron them!).
In conjunction with the steam glide tech, this Iron also has something Philips call Ionic DeepSteam which is said to further improve crease removal. According to Philips, the iron produces 50g/min of steam at normal power with 200g/min of steam when needed. All I can say is I have never had problems with removing creases when compared to some of the irons I have used in the past.
It has a smooth annodilium (metal) soleplate is supposed to be scratch resistant, so zips, studs or any metal objects on your fabrics should pose no problem.
The cable is 2.5 metres in length and gave me plenty of slack when I was using the iron.
On top of this, are other features such as anti-drip and double calcium cleaning system. Of note there is a safety feature where the iron turns itself off if it hasnt been used for 8 minutes. Now it might be great if you've forgotten to turn your iron off, but really you shouldnt need to use it as your iron should be turned off after you've finished ironing.
So in conclusion, this iron scores where it counts. It is easy to use and ironing is a real breeze and effortless. It also looks great and in the year I have used it, I haven’t had any problems with it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
