Advantages: great performance, functionality & styling
Disadvantages: short power cord
I got the Philips Mistral 332 a few months ago as I started a new job and had to live away in the week. Since then, I have made good use of it on a daily basis and been pleasantly surprised.
The iron comes in a variety of pastel colours and I personally own a blue one, which in my opinion is the most neutral. The rest of the design is true to the general quality one would expect from Philips. The lines are slick, the design practical and easy on the eye. A very handy water tank is seamlessly integrated into the iron and made a stand-out feature through the introduction of glass panels on the side.
In fact, this water tank is one of the key features of the iron. Its 200ml capacity is easily filled up by a specially provided plastic container and the tank has an easily read Maximum line. This tank allows the steam and sprinkling functions of the iron to work. While these are standard on many modern irons of a decent level, it is great to find all the desired functionality at such a low price (we bought ours from Argos for around £15).
In terms of the ironing itself, this iron is equipped with a very capable 'easy-glide' metal base and a broad range of settings on the control wheel. The base heats up in a matter of seconds once the iron is plugged in and the cable is long enough to be able to manouvre the iron within a reasonable amount of space, although if you are ironing in a larger room, you may need to use an extension lead. The control dial has a range of temperature & material settings which enable you to preset the power of the iron to your desired settings.
All in all, this is a great iron and even more so for the price you'd have to pay for it.
Summary: A tool to make your daily ironing that little bit easier!
