I bought this iron to take on holiday with me last week to cyprus as my clothes always get creased in the suitcase, and I thought instead of paying to hire one in the hotel, I would take my own. I wish I hadn't bothered taking this iron on holiday with me as it was useless!
I haven't used a travel iron before, and for the price I paid, £9.99 on amazon, I wasn't expecting it to be a fantastic iron, but I didn't think it would be so bad. It took absolutely ages to heat up, and I kept having to go over the clothes again and again, and still the creases were there. My clothes looked a little better than they did before I ironed them, but nothing like they do with a real iron. You had to push down quite hard to try and get creases out, it didn't seem to glide easily over them like the iron I use at home. I don't think this iron would be any good at all if you had just washed something and were ironing it for the first time.
I was surprised for such a little iron how heavy it was, I would have thought with it being a travel item they would make it lightweight for your suitcase, but it is surprisingly heavy. It came with a very small water jug which looked quite cute, but it was so small I've lost it already! It has a 80ml water tank capacity which is more than enough for what you use it for on holiday, and the iron does look quite good quality, with a stainless steel sole plate.
I was expecting this iron to be better than it was due to it being made by russell hobbs, as I have been impressed with other products by them. Although it was just a cheap one, so if you want an iron which will be as good as your iron at home on holiday your better off paying a bit more!
