Advantages: Small, handy

Disadvantages: None

We go away a lot for weekends and like to go out for dinner when we do meaning we often need to iron our clothes before we go out as they have been folded up in our suitcases and have attracted lots of creases. After using horrible hotel irons for way too long we decided to get a travel iron as we decided the investment was worth it. Hotel irons are always old, usually are quite dirty and so transfer that to your clothes and really don't have that much power so it really doesn't look like you've ironed your shirt in the first place.

This Russell Hobbs travel iron was just the ticket as it looks just like a regular iron but is quite small so perfect to pack away in the corner of a suitcase. It has a short little handle and not one that attaches all the way along the iron which makes it a lot small and a lot less bulky.

The bottom of this iron is lovely. THe plate is made of stainless steel and very smooth so you get a nice clean iron with it. There is also a water spray and steam button which I love as the steam really gets out the creases on a shirt. The water spray is great as I find if my clothes are too dry the iron does not work as well, a quick spray with the water and they get a nice dampness to them and then iron better. What I really like about the bottom of this iron is that it has a lip around the edge meaning that when you iron around buttons the buttons go into this ridge so you can get a really close iron around the edge of your shirt.

There is a temperature control on this iron which I think is a good addition as not all travel irons have this. This allows you to iron different types of materials without fearing it is too hot for them. For example I have a lot of delicate going out clothes which really only need a low iron and so this travel iron is good for that. The iron has a light to indicate when it is plugged in and on so you can make sure you have turned it off before you leave the room.

This iron also has dual voltage but I have never actually taken it abroad so I cannot comment on this function of the iron. For about £10-£15 this was a good travel investment for us.
