I received the Swan SI1065 as a housewarming gift after moving into my new flat 4 months ago. This iron is available online from www.salepr.com for £25. I love this iron it does exactly what it promises and helps me finish the ironing in no time at all.
This Swan iron is 2200 watts and corded, but comes with a 3-meter cord so that you don't need to be right next to the plug.
There are two buttons located on the top of the iron for a shot of extra steam or spray of water. I hardly have to use these buttons when ironing clothes because the ironing automatically steams while ironing. The extra steam button would come in handy if you were steaming curtains. This iron can steam vertically so no need to take curtains off the rail, which is a real bonus.
The iron is self-cleaning and offers lime-scale prevention, so no need to use distilled water or worry if you live in a hard water area. I absolutely love the auto shut-off function of this iron, if not used within about 5 minutes the iron will automatically go shut-off and go on standby. There has been many of times I've just started ironing and will get a phone call and leave the iron, but the auto shut-off definitely saves energy and is a safety precaution.
There are several different temperature choices depending on which fabric you are ironing which are all explained in the manual included. There is an easy to use push button on the top of the iron to select your temperature, which will be displayed on the digital screen, once selected the temperature will blink while heating up, once the temperature stops blinking the iron is ready to use. The digital screen is easy to read and makes temperatures much more accurate, when the iron is in auto shut-off mode this will also be displayed on the screen.
There are 4 temperature choices: 100, 140, 175, and 200 C.
The iron comes with a small plastic measuring jug that has a fill line drawn on so you can fill it up water and then fill the iron without trying to guess how much water to put in.
The iron is easy and small to store away in a closet, you can repack the iron and measuring jug into its original box to save even more space and keep things tidy.
The only downside to this iron is that it doesn't hold that much water, but as I stated before using the measuring jug it takes 2 seconds to refill and begin ironing again.
I am not the biggest fan of ironing, but with this iron I don't mind it at all.
this iron is a n absolute nightmare! Ive had two and both had the same problem-shutting off before and after heating up,temperatures jumping, steam shot going off but itself! COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME!! do not buy!
