Thomas Sabo Silver Humming Bird Charm
by alfiepeaches
For my 18th birthday my best friends family bought me a Thomas Sabo Bracelet and three charms to go with it. They all bought the bracelet together, my friend gave me an angel wing charm, her mum and dad gave me a pearl and her grandparents gave me this cute hummingbird charm.
Before receiving my bracelet and charms I had only ... heard of Thomas Sabo in the Katy Perry adverts in magazines and had never taken much notice of it. After I got this I did some searching and there is a huge variety of charms all with different themes and colours. They are different to Pandora as they little 3d silver charms that attach to the bracelet with a very strong clip. My bracelet allows room for three charms and I have since received an Eiffel tower charm and swap the charms around which is different to Pandora too has Pandoras are more about collecting and showing different stages of your life.
The charms come in a tiny round box about the size of a 50p that says Thomas Sabo Charm Club on and the bottom part of the box is white and black striped, inside the box is half full of a white foam and the charm is inside here. I really like these little boxes as they are so cute and look expensive as they remind you of shopping in the movies but in miniature form! The mini boxes come in a small silky white drawstring bag which has the Thomas Sabo logo printed on.
The humming bird is about 1cm by 1cm and a very simple mould, the back has no detail except the charm code engraved into it. The clip is attached to the tip of the wing so the bird hangs at an angle when worn. The beak of the humming bird is very long and pointy, I often catch myself with it and it's like a sharp pin, it always catches on a cardigan when putting one on so I only wear it when I'm wearing something with no arms. Unfortunately after being a bit too heavy handed (I was probably dunk...) the bird snapped at the wing where it is attached to the clip and the nose has bent a little at the end. I can't wear it anymore which I'm so annoyed at because, although it stabs me on a regular basis, it was my favourite! :(
The cost of this charm is £21.95 which is quite expensive for such a small charm, I think most of the price is because of the clip though as it is very sturdy and there is no worry of it accidently falling off. I really like this charm and really want to recommend it but because it broke so easily and would hurt me because of the pin like beak I can't really which is a shame. Read the complete review |

Pandora Element 790491EN08
by alfiepeaches
I was very lucky to receive a Pandora bracelet the year before last for my 18th birthday from my Dad and his partner. I got three charms with my bracelet, a dinosaur, a pink glass one and this turquoise enamel charm.
The charm is a simple round bead shape and quite heavy compared to others. It has the usual hole to screw onto ... the bracelet and the opening of the hole either side is silver and on one side the charms number is engraved here so it's not noticeable when being worn. The charm is a darkish, vivid blue that shines brightly and looks very beautiful; the charm is detailed with a swirly silver pattern repeated four times around the charm. The swirly pattern looks like four comma shapes arranged into a pattern to look like a flower. Personally I think the pattern looks a little gothic against the turquoise colour and is really pretty.
The charm costs £45 which makes is my most expensive charm. I definitely would not choose this myself knowing how expensive but it is very beautiful and worth its price and I love it. I don't often have charms added to my bracelet either, once or twice a year so it makes it more special to me. The charm is very unique as there is only one other that has a pattern like this, the other is purple enemal one, this makes my bracelet more unique and special to me. The charm really stands out on my bracelet with the turquoise enamel and I would recommend it to people who only like a little bit of colour on their Pandora bracelet or who like gothic/dark patterns. Pandora 790407 Dinosaur Charm
by alfiepeaches
I was very spoilt on my 18th birthday the year before last and my Dad and his partner got me a Pandora bracelet with three charms. I had a pink glass one, a blue enamel one and this dinosaur. Before searching this I thought this was a dragon and I do think it looks more like a dragon than a dinosaur and I think this is why my dad and his ... partner chose it as we like fantasy sort of things like this in books or films etc. Since finding out it is actually a dinosaur, it does look a little like Reptar from The Rugrats! This dinosaur is now discontinued but you may still be able to get in some of the shops because they might still have the last few. I like that this is discontinued as it will make my Pandora bracelet even more unique now.
The dinosaur is about 1 cm by 1cm with the hole through its body to screw onto the bracelet. The dinosaur is very cute looking and has a little smiley face, his hands and feet are detailed on the front of him with little spikes all down his back. Most of his body, apart from his spikes, face and feet are detailed with little lines to give the appearance of a scaly body. The charm number is engraved on the bottom of tail and isn't noticeable at all. The shape of this dinosaur is sort of triangular and because of this the dinosaur always sits in the best way for it to be shown off nicely on the bracelet.
I really love this dinosaur, although I prefer to think of him as a dragon, he is the only silver charm I have so far and is very different to many of the other animal style charms as he is not so perfectly made and smooth. I often get asked if it is a real Pandora charm because he looks so different and it makes it seem a bit more special, this is doubled now because it has been discontinued. I would recommend you try and see if one of the last ones are at your local Pandora store as it is very cute and different. I do not know how much it cost but I'm guessing as it's a basic sterling silver charm, £25-£30. Read the complete review |
