Pandora 790385 Silver Flower Safety Chain
by PandaEyes
When I first got my Pandora bracelet I had never actually thought about buying a safety chain for it until my bracelet actually came loose and fell off my wrist one day, luckily I noticed and so didn't lose it. I actually had a problem with the clasp on the bracelet which I mentioned in my review of the actual Pandora bracelet itself. ... When pushing the clasp closed, if the end of the bracelet is not in the correct position inside the clasp then it will actually bend part of the metal, preventing it from closing properly after and making it easier to just open and then fall off. Pandora have since changed the design of the clasps and fixed mine for free regardless of how long I owned mine for because at the time it was common problem.
As I'm getting more and more charms now though the bracelet is worth quite a lot and the last thing I want to do is lose it. There are several safety chain charms available and whilst the term 'safety chain' may make you think they aren't like the standard charms you can get, they are actually quite similar. My bracelet is full of silver charms and so I opted for a silver safety chain as you can see in the image above, but there are gold ones available too, as well as silver ones with small gold parts on. The prices range from £40 up to £225. This particular one that I am reviewing costs £40, although it only cost me £35 at the time I purchased mine.
I really like the safety chain and when on the bracelet it actually looks like two extra charms, making it look more full! The chain dangling down also makes it stand out more I think, as I don't have many of the 'dangly' charms on my bracelet.
The charm screws on to the bracelet like all the other charms do, but you screw one on either end of the bracelet. If you already own a Pandora bracelet that is full or almost full, then I would recommend actually fitting the charm onto your bracelet first before purchasing to see if their is enough room left for it, as if the charm doesn't screw on all the way it will prevent you from being able to shut the clasp. My bracelet is not yet completely full so I do not have this problem, but when all the charms I do have work their way to one side of the bracelet it can prevent me from shutting it properly and I have to move the charms back around.
I have owned this safety chain for over a year now and the charm still looks just as good as it did when I first bought it. The flowers engraved into the charm do not collect any dirt and the silver is still very clean. The chain itself is also excellent quality and I have never felt like it was going to snap or come loose.
I recommend this charm to anyone who wishes to protect their bracelet from falling off their wrist easily, especially if it has a lot of charms on making it worth quite a lot. If you don;t have many charms but want to make your bracelet appear fuller, then it does a good job at that too as it actually adds 2 charms to your bracelet, as well as making it look pretty!
