Recently it was sister-in-law's birthday and as it was her 30th I wanted to get her something she could keep so I started trawling online for ideas and found myself in the jewellery section on Amazon. I've previously bought some jewellery from Amazon and when it arrived I was really impressed with it so I browsed the pendant section looking for something suitable.
Women have very individual taste in jewellery and my sister-in-law has slightly more classic taste than I do so I had to avoid the odd bits and grungy crosses that I like and find something a bit more subdued but eye catching enough to make it worth wearing. At the end of a mammoth session it was a toss up between this silver teardrop pendant and another one but I actually thought the teardrop was the best option as it looked very classy and could be worn at any occasion.
At the time I purchased mine, well hers, it was £14.99 but it's currently out of stock so clearly its popularity has increased for Christmas. The actual teardrop is twisted as in the picture which gives it lots of surfaces to catch the light and makes it look contemporary. The teardrop measures 1.4 cm wide at the widest point and 3 cm high, the measurements make it sound bigger than it looks however and when it arrived I was pleased with the size as it avoided looking large and tacky. The snake chain is a round chain that also looks very nice and measures 16 inches but it can be extended by another 2 inches using the extra chain link at the end. It weighs 6.7 grams in total so it's very light too.
This came in a dark blue leather look box with a black velvet inner which I thought made it look more expensive than it actually was, I was concerned about the box because someone on Amazon wrote in their review their box was a cheap looking affair but I have to say it wasn't. Someone else on Amazon was disappointed about the extender just being normal chain links at the end of the snake chain but I expected it to be this way as that's what extenders are! So overall I was really taken with this pendant and have to confess I almost succumbed to the temptation to keep it! It wouldn't be the first time I'd bought jewellery for someone else only to keep it for myself!
So her birthday arrived and I handed over the gift with baited breath (while planning in my head to tell her to give it back to me on my birthday if she didn't like it!) and she literally gasped when she opened it. Now that's a good reaction and she enthused over it for some time before trying it on. It looked just right on her and the actual teardrop suited her classic taste. It doesn't look large or tacky or out of place with any outfit or occasion and I congratulated myself for choosing well! I've since seen her wearing it a few times and it's a piece of jewellery that's timeless and will still look as attractive in decades to come. I also think it would suit women of any age over 25, for under 25's it may look a bit too grown up unless they happen to be a particularly mature 25.
I'm very pleased with this pendant and chain, it looks alot more expensive than it is and the presentation box adds to this. It's a timeless, classic piece of jewellery that will suit all kinds of women with all kinds of taste. I have to admit I actually would wear it too despite my taste being different to my sister-in-law's and the only disadvantage I can find is that I didn't get one for myself before they sold out!
A full 5 stars for me and a really attractive piece of silver jewellery for my sister-in-law.
