“ Brand: Avon / Type: Trinket Box „
I bought this trinket box as a present at the same time I bought a picture frame with the same butterfly design. I bought them as a present for my daughter as she loves butterflies and dragonflies and I thought she would love these. Thankfully I ordered them both early enough to be able to deal with the total disappointment of the gifts, send them back and still buy her different presents.
I have reviewed the picture frame on here and now it is time for the trinket box. The picture in the catalogue I saw showed a beautiful butterfly with purple tinged wings, a delicate shine on top of a small butterfly shaped box. What actually turned up with a thin, cheap and tacky looking butterfly shaped bit of metal on top of two halves of a butterfly box. I know that the broken effect was not part of the purchase so would have returned it anyway. The butterfly itself looked nothing like the photo of it, it was the same shape and had purple parts to it but it looked like something you would see and walk past in a Pound Stretcher store in your local town centre. The lid didn't seem to fit the box, I don't know if this was due to it being broken or not but I was not impressed with its quality, ignoring for a second the broken aspect of it. The materials used to make the butterfly were very bad, so thin and no care or effort used to make this.
I paid £5 for this box and would not have paid this if I had known how terrible the box was going to look in person. I did send both items back and requested a refund which I received. I would advise people to steer clear of this box, it looks pretty but looks can be very deceiving.
So i don't mean to sound ungrateful, but i received this present from my boyfriends mum and dad for my 20th birthday at first i thought it was beautiful that was until i had a proper look at it, and then realised how badly made this product is, if you want an ornament its perfect but for use for keeping things in it is rubbish.
My problems started a few days after having this, firstly the purple diamontie in the middle fell off and i couldn't re glue it back in, then i went to remover a pair of earrings and the wing fell off!! at this point i was really disappointed it ended up in the bin because i didn't have the heart to tell my boyfriends parents.
The trinket box itself is quiet big it looks beautiful with its nice shape and beautiful purple colour. The wings open up really nicely however the compartments are not that big, so only earrings and a small necklace will fit in them. Inside the wing it is very uneven and rough so poorly finished. Plus some of the corners were quiet sharp so not good for younger children.
I know from looking in the Avon catalogue that the trinket costs around £5, however it is just not worth buying, normally Avon are fantastic for gifts but this item is a real disappointment.
I bought this trinket box from Avon for my sister in law as part of her Christmas present, sorting out my wardrobe today I came across it and after opening the box I'm glad I didn't find this cheap piece of rubbish on Christmas Eve as I'd have been quite embarrassed at giving this as a gift.
I ordered it from the Avon book as it looked so attractive and feminine, it looked to be of excellent quality and absolutely sparkled on the pages of the book.
How naughty of Avon to send me such a flimsy piece of rubbish, I paid £8 for the trinket box and am so annoyed that it's too late to send it back now. What looks like a good quality item is actually made of thin and very cheap metal, the embellishments you can see on the photo above are nowhere near as nice as they look and are very dull. Even the wings look cheap and are not as brightly coloured as I expected them to be, in the Avon book I remember them having an iridescent sheen but in reality they have a kind of forced shine which I can tell is going to dull quickly.
To be honest it won't be given a chance for the shine to dull as I've put it back in the box and added it to the bag of car boot items I've advertised on Freecycle. Honestly, I have three granddaughters' who all like pretty things but I wouldn't want to palm this off on them as it's nowhere near as attractive as it could have been. The wings on my trinket box don't even sit straight on the box itself which makes it look untidy and it definitely wouldn't look nice on anyones dressing table, the whole thing is just a very shabby affair and to be honest is the kind of item I'd pick up in Poundland and immediately put back as not being worth the punt!
I doubt it's available in the main book now as it was sold amongst the seasonal items late last year, you might find it in the sale brochure and avoid it like the plague as I'd imagine Avon would have plenty they need rid of!
I purchased this item for my future mother in law for her Christmas as part of her big present, and i was slightly disappointed when this was delivered by my Avon rep.
This was part of a set, which you had to buy everything individually, and this cost roughly £5. The other things in the set were a butterfly photo frame and also a butterfly clock, which were all round about the same price.
The photo that is in the Avon Catalogue makes this look really lavish and expensive, but the truth is when you get this out of the display box that this comes in, it looks very cheap and nasty.
Thebutterfly its self if silver and purple in colour, with the purple ranging from dark purple into light purple on the wings, also around the wings there are diamantes stuck to it. The wings are on hinges and open up to reveal two compartments that you can store jewellery or things in.
I have to admit it i thought that the trinket box was going to be a bit bigger, as there really isint alot of room to put things in it. I also felt really dissapointed that the compartments that you place the stuff into wasnt a better shade of silver, it is really tarnished looking and really dull, and i felt that this cheapened the look of this all together.
The price was alright for what it was but i would have rather had a bit better value for my money, but it was ok for a present, as long as you are giving something else with it too, as it is nothing on its own.
Not one i would really recommend to buy again.
This butterfly shaped Trinket Box costs £8 from Avon and for that price I was expecting something really special. The photograph in the brochure and on the website shows a gorgeous metal trinket box with purple colour to the wings, gorgeous shimmering stone detail and wings that open beautifully to reveal the trinket compartments beneath. It looks like a lovely item doesn't it?
Sadly, Avon's touch-up photography skills have gone too far again with this item. In reality this is in fact a cheap piece of tin with hinged wings. This is an extremely lightweight item that is made from cheap metal and the wings aren't even exactly aligned.
The stones are just cheap and cheerful embellishments that have no shimmer or shine to them. They look silver in the picture but actually they're opaque. The gorgeous colours of the wings are actually rather bland in reality too and lack the vibrancy the picture leads us to believe they will have.
This is an absolute rip-off and one I actually convinced a customer not to order so I wouldn't have to return a second one of these. I am very disappointed in Avon for letting this one in the brochure and think it should at least have been sold as more of a child's present and priced for no more than £3.
Lilac, jewelled butterfly shaped trinket box. Under each wing is a small compartment.
