A lovely freshwater pearl jewellery set.

My husband Mark bought this set for me to wear for a friends wedding at the end of last year, I was looking for something delicate and pretty and this seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I have always felt a little bit unsure of so called floating pearls as I'm worried the thin clear thread they are on would look tacky but I was wrong, these look really nice and I worn them many times.

The Floating Fresh Water Pearl Set came from www.sophanie.co.uk and cost approximately £30.00. The set comprises of a 3 strand floating pearl necklace, a 3 strand floating pearl bracelet and a pair of drop earrings. The set comes packaged in a pretty pink and black box with Sophanie written on the front in silver. The lid of the box is in an envelope design and secures with a hidden magnet. Inside the jewellery is presented on a black velvet base giving the whole box a stylish look.

The necklace as I mentioned consists of 3 strands with the shortest being 40.5cm's and the longest 43cm's the 3 strands altogether contain 60 white fresh water oval pearls of 2 different sizes, 6-7mm and 4mm. The pearls are fixed at intervals on an invisible nylon thread giving the impression that they are floating, hence the name floating pearls, the effect is very good and the nylon thread is virtually invisible against your skin. The necklace secures with a silver flat carabina clasp which I personally find quite easy to operate.

The bracelet is much the same design as the necklace, it consists of 3 strands of nylon thread containing 27 white oval freshwater pearls once again fixed at intervals along the thread giving the impression they are just floating. The pearls are the same sizes as the ones on the necklace. The bracelet is 18.5 cm's including the clasp, there's no extender so this length is fixed.

The earrings have just a single white pearl which is 7mm in size, they are just a simple style that hooks through your ear and the pearl drops down. The metal parts of the earrings are made from silver the same as the rest of the set.

I originally bought this set to wear for my friends wedding and it fitted the bill perfectly, I have since worn the set many times, all together and on occasions separately. The nylon thread disappears against your skin leaving just the pearls on view, the effect is very pretty. The pearls are a lovely milky white colour making them the perfect colour to go with just about anything including the rest of my jewellery which is all white gold, and although pearls were traditionally considered formal this modern way of wearing them brings them right up to date and makes them suitable for wearing anytime. I often wear mine for work or just with a top and jeans.

Although the pearls are described as oval in my opinion they are more of a round shape just not perfectly round.

If you fancy some nice freshwater pearl jewellery that's well made and good quality then I would recommend taking a look at this, its versatile, pretty and feminine, its not over the top and the floating design makes it modern and although the nylon thread sounds cheap and tacky its not.

I would certainly recommend this set of jewellery I have worn it a lot more than I thought I would, as a set or just as individual items.
