A stylish charm for your bracelet

Having received the Thomas Sabo black obsidian bracelet for Christmas, my friend had it easy for my birthday last year buying me a charm to go on it from Thomas Sabo's Charm Club collection. The charm was packaged just as well as the bracelet itself, in a little white and black drawstring satin bag with the logo on, which in turn is in the little square branded cardboard box. I think it is a nice touch if you are buying or receiving something as a gift that is well packaged.

The boot itself is approx 15mm high plus clasp which includes a 5mm heel. The length of the boot is approx 13mm. It can be attached to the bracelet with a 'lobster' clasp - the spring loaded variety opened with a small lever - which in spite of its small size I managed to get onto my bracelet quite easily. It has stayed there quite securely thus far. The charm is shiny black enamel with a sterling silver base (hallmarked) and heel with a 'cuff' made up of two rows of alternate black crystal like zirconas.

I think the boot looks very smart and shiny and I am thrilled with it, it is proportionally correct and can stand up by itself (I am not sure why you would want to do this admittedly) rather than being a flat outline. It doesn't dangle in my way as much as I thought it would, but don't tend to wear it at work when I am at a computer keyboard for most of the day. The quality seems to be there and the design is very fashionable and on-trend. A lot of charms come in other colours, but I have not seen the boot in anything other than the black-silver combination. As much as I love the bracelet and charms (which seem to be everywhere these days, so many people also have them) I don't think it is a piece I would be wearing 5-10 years ahead, unlike other jewellery. It is essentially a fashion piece.

The charm was a gift so I am not aware of the price, but when checking some facts on-line I noticed that it retails on the Thomas Sabo website for £20.47 currently which I think is very reasonable. Thomas Sabo products can be bought on their website and also from their own shops or concessions in large department stores or jewellers.
