Advantages: Freshly prepared fruit juice

Disadvantages: Not the easiest appliance to clean

This juice extractor was an impulse buy and one that has thankfully turned out well!!
We are enjoying all sorts of freshly centrifuged juices, I really enjoy mixing fruits and then tasting the results.
My favourite so far is orange, apple and grape - 2 large oranges, 1 Granny Smith apple and a big handful of seedless green grapes produce two large glasses of fresh juice.

I've always quite fancied an electric juicer, but have never been able to justify the amount of cash wanted by manufacturers for their particular product, so I just muddled along with my trusty old glass citrus squeezer.
I was browsing the shelves of my local Aldi store when I spotted the Delta Juice Extractor, model number 171, priced at £9.99 and nothing was going to stop me from buying it.
Knowing very little about how these machines worked I couldn't wait to get home and explore my purchase.

Inside the box was one extremely well packaged juicer along with an instruction leaflet, it advised me that before I used my new juicer I should disassemble it and wash all plastic parts, except the motor base, in warm water, so this is what I did.
I was pleased that on the instruction leaflet there is an assembly/disassembly guide to help me put the juicer back together, although it is actually quite a straightforward task.
This juicer comes with an integrated jug which will hold approximately three quarters of a litre of juice.
There is also a cable storage space in the unit, however the power plug does not fit in this space properly and as a result the sliding 'door' will only close half way.
The dimensions of the unit are: LxDxH = 182x230x280(mm)

According to the instructions fruit and vegetables should be pre-prepared - i.e. cut into small pieces, all stones and fibrous parts removed - before being fed into the juicer.
I tend to peel oranges, grapefruits lemons etc. Apples and pears I take out the core but leave the skin on as this does not affect the quality of the juice.
So….the first time I used my new juicer I had a few pre prepared piles of fruit - oranges, lemons, apples and pears - I just mixed them all together - I fed them into the feeder tube of the juicer and assisted them on their way (gently) with the supplied presser.
I was absolutely amazed at how much juice was extracted from the fruit and the waste pulp is unbelievably dry. - Five oranges, two lemons, one pear and two apples gave me about one litre of beautifully smooth sweet fresh fruit juice.
I was so impressed! I used some of the juice right away and popped the rest into a jug and put it in the fridge for use later on.
I've only used my juicer for fruit, but it does have instructions for juicing vegetables if that is what you want to do.

Well, now I had to clean my juicer……I am still distinctly unimpressed at how awkward this machine is to empty of all the fruit pulp it has in its innards after the centrifuging process, although having spoken to a few friends who have similar products made by different manufacturers this does seem to be a characteristic of most electric juicers.
Once the pulp has been disposed of, the actual cleaning is fairly easy, hot soapy water returns the juicer to its pristine state. The presser, lid and pulp container are dishwasher safe, but with the other parts requiring hand washing I've not gone down this route.

Overall I would certainly recommend this juice extractor.
The fruit juice it produces is brilliant.
It is excellent value for money.
At £9.99 with a three year manufacturer's warranty, an integrated jug and coming supplied with an electric plug, I personally don't think better value can be obtained.

The undernoted question and answer about the juice extractor have been taken from their web site.

Q: What is the difference between blending, squeezing and centrifugal extraction?

A: Centrifugal extraction takes out only the juice, separating it from the flesh and therefore from the fibre. So the juice is concentrated, tastier and above all more digestible.
I have been unable to locate another retail outlet selling this juice extractor, so I can only assume that it is especially made for sale in Aldi retail outlets.

However there is an online shop at the above address, so I would assume an enquiry there will produce an online price.

N.B. The colour of the juicer is BLUE & WHITE…not green and white as shown above.
