Advantages: Easy to Clean and Use, Takes out as much juice from the fruit as possible!
Disadvantages: It's a little bulky
I'm not that big of a fruit fan. Well ok, I lied....I am pretty obsessed with berries , all types of berries in fact. Why do they always have to be so God Da*n expensive though? You go to your local market, and you can buy, what....about sayyyyy, 10 little raspberries in the worlds smallest plastic container for 4.99. That's .50 pence a raspberry! Jimminy H, are there a shortage of raspberry farms out there? Maybe that's what I should be, a raspberry farmer. Has to be some good money in that, plus i'd get free raspberries. I'm seriously looking in this now......Sorry went off on a tangent...I'll get to the main point eventually.
When it comes to Oranges, Apples, Grapefruit and the like, I really only enjoy the juice. ( Unless it's a Honeycrisp apple.....if you've never tried one of those I do feel a little sorry for your loss, they are the Lexus/Cadillac of Apples). The main problem in buying storebought juice is that, it doen't taste "real". I mean, if it does to you, then fair enough. I guess you like Sugar Water flavored with artifical Orange/Apple/Grapefuit.
So, one day last year I had spent the night with one of my crazy, Oh-I-have-to-buy-everything-organic-or-i'll-die-to morrow friends. The next morning I wake up to hear her buzzing entire apples and oranges (peeled oranges, obviously=) through this machine, while humming some really upbeat song and smiling an overly cheerful hello. (It's re-bloody-diculous for a person to be THAT happy in the MORNING. Why can't they just grunt, grumble , and squint they're eyes like everyone else? ) While I proceed to point out that it's not nice to wake someone up at 7am on a SATURDAY, with some chainsaw sounding buzzing, I notice that she's made a huge carafe of Orange and Apple Juice. I go " Wow, how long did it take you to make all that?" She says "Oh about 3 minutes".
Now ,everyone with a working brain in a non-vegatative state, knows that juicing several oranges and apples takes EONS. Or it did with me at least. I had a very old school juicer that I got from my parents as a "Umm we never use this so, here, you can have it!" gift. Which translated to "Please store this in your house now", because, I never used it either. It's not as if I didn't WANT fresh juice, I just didn't want to have 15 minutes of fruit cutting, then 5 minutes of juice making, then another 15 minutes of cleaning out the machine. 35 minutes for a few cups of juice? I'll just eat the f'ing oranges!
The bright side to this really long, drawn out, convuluted story of mine, is this......this juicer my friend has really does only take you a few minutes to make juice. The extractor opening is large enough to take whole oranges, apples, bananna's, (grapefruit does need to be at least cut in have). Then, it zips through and creates more juice than you thought was in that ONE piece of fruit. Better yet, when you go to the leftover "fruit fragments" catcher, they're extremely dry. It squeezes out every possible amount of juice.
So, I bought it. Well, I had my parents buy it as a present , to replace the crapola juicer they "gifted" me earlier. Oh, and it's overly easy to clean up and is easy to put together and take apart. That was a huge plus. In the mornings now, I can make juice faster than coffee, but I do it with a frown and a "ughhh god why can I still be asleep" , face.
If you want fresh juice instead of storebought stuff, this juicer is the only one (in it's price range especially) , I would recommend. Unless your an over-the-top, out-of-control, nutso juicer.....as in, you own a store and need to make 100's of cups of juice a day. Then just buy a commercial one.
PS. - Yes I realize that this is not a so called "technical" spec-esque type review. Although, I believe if you glance up at the description, it will tell you all the boring bits like a 350 watt motor boring bla boring blahhhh....This is a PERSONAL review. So please do not write me saying I should have put more specs and nerdy stuff in my own "personal review". =)
