Advantages: easy to use, no limits really as to what you can juice
Disadvantages: can be a bit time consuming to clean, especially is the bits have stuck onto the mesh part of it!
I bought this juicer a few years back and have only really started to play about with it now!
It is really great for making juices/soups...etc - you can juice virtually anything - even drop in pieces of ginger! I love the fact that you can gather the pulp together - I usually for example, juice carrots, extract the pulp and then juice other fruits but use the pulp say for cooking (carrot cake - yum!) The only think I will suggest is that if people are buying this item, read which model it is.
The updated model I have to this one shown apparently is made so you don't have to peel oranges, pineapples...etc and then juice it, you can chuck the lot in! Even grapes while they're still on their stalks!! On my one, the one I think shown in this picture, you do have to peel the fruit (although you don't need to remove things like pips).
Also, the pulp is still quite moist so you get the feeling that maybe more juice could have been extracted (although again, the newer models claim that the pulp is really dry) so just look out for these two things.
It is relatively easy to assemble - the juicing blade is screwed in with a little gadget you are given (again, the only snag is that you're not given a spare one - although it's pretty big and you're not hugely likley to lose it, if you're in a house full of kids, anything is impossible!!) and everything just sort of fits into place and the steel lever bar as can be seen ih the photo, is pulled on top of the product so the pieces stay in place. This can be a little hard sometimes.
It isn't that noisey at all! You can still hear the phone, the door or have a conversation if this is going on in the background!!
It is pretty durable, I've had nieces drop the whole thing on the floor and it hasn't broken. Every washable bit is dishwasher proof. It is easy to clean if you don't have a dishwasher - although don't let the sieve part of the machine dry out as then it can be difficult to get the pulp out of it.
I paid over a hundred pounds for mine (mad I know!) but it has lasted me well!
My criticisms of it is that it isn't the easiest of items to store if you don't have much room in your kitchen - it is quite bulky. The power chord is relatively short so you need to be in close proximity to the socket.
I didn't get any accessories with mine but a friend of mine who bought one recently got some recipe books,w hich are essentially smoothie suggestions - I've tried a few of them and they are delicious!!
For those who like juice with bits in - this isn't for you as the juice comes out smooth (pureed like if you throw in mangos and pulp type fruit).
But it is great to pull together mixers for cocktail parties!!
Summary: VERY RELIABLE PRODUCT!!
