Advantages: efficient, simple to use, easy to wash most parts, looks ok

Disadvantages: noisy, large, washing the sieve, citrus fruits must be peeled

Since I'm one of those people who resolves to be healthy every once in a while, I was very happy when my dad bought home the Moulinex Whole fruit juicer - it doesn't say the code on the front of the manual or the front of the machine so I had to use my newly juice sustained muscles to lift it up and read that it was the Ju500!

You can generally buy this from around £60 and upwards, but amazon is selling it for about £36! (just type in moulinex juicer - the description says the product code is ju500815)

When I first took it out of the box, it all looked very complicated (there are 9 separate parts: the large pusher, small pusher, reducer for small pusher, feed tube/cover, the sieve, juice collector, motor unit, pulp collector and brush) so the manual was very useful! The first thing to do was to wash all the removable parts and put it all together (this took me a good while).

Before making the juice, I had to decide which pusher to use (the large pusher is just a fat stick that pushes the fruit down, and the small one is obviously a small version that has to be used with the 'reducer', which just narrows the opening of the feed tube so there's less mess or something). I decided to use the small one the first time - most of the fruits I used fitted in but I cut my apples in half so I wouldn't have to change it for the big one - very lazy! The manual very helpfully has a table that tells you which pusher to use for which fruit and veg, and approximately how much fruit you'll get out of each type of fruit and veg.

I was pleasantly surprised at how much juice could be produced - and how easy it was - the first couple of times I got a bit carried away and juiced everything in sight but I've yet to taste juice that doesn't taste nice! My favourite so far has to be pomegranate juice - it is quite laborious but less so if you cut the top off the pomegranate, then make vertical slits through the outside of the skin, pull it apart, and use the back of a spoon to bash the fruit out!

THE NEGATIVES and......SOME FRIENDLY ADVICE

The only fruit I don't put in is citrus fruit, because it has to be peeled - which I'm also too lazy to do.

The centre stalk has to be removed from pineapples

Washing all the plastic things is easy (they're all dishwasher safe) but the sieve takes a bit of effort - the brush provided makes it a lot easier though.
I'd advise washing the juicer parts straight after your juice is made, because it's much harder to clean when the gunk dries on!

I feel as if I should have a composter to spoon all of the mulch produced from this machine into - it's not a pleasant process. I feel less bad though that it's not dripping wet, as it used to be in my old juicer - the machine does seem quite efficient at extracting almost all the liquid possible.

The machine is very bulky and quite noisy - so make sure you have the space to store it, and I wouldn't use it when people are sleeping since it would probably wake people up.

Overall, if you don't mind washing up afterwards, this is a very efficient and fun to use juicer that doesn't look half bad if you have the space!

Summary: Overall, if you don't mind washing up afterwards, this is a very efficient and fun to use juicer tha

Thanks for the really thorough review. Im after a new juicer. Do you know the price? Might be worth adding that on.
