Advantages: relatively easy to clean, no need to chop fruit first, powerful, can juice veg too
Disadvantages: can't think of any!
Last summer I thought I'd give juicing a try. I chose this particular juicer because of the fact you can just put whole fruits in (rather than having to chop them up first) and because it seemed to come in fewer pieces than other machines around, which woudl hopefully mean cleaning and reassembly woudlnt be too much of a nightmare.
It is really really good.
It has two settings, one for soft frutis (e.g. strawberries) and one for hard fruits (apples, beetroot, carrot etc). Most apples and pears fit down the little chute without needed to be chopped, larger fruit/ veg like beetrootneed to be chopped, but only into half or quarters if they are massive specimens!
As with (virtually) any juicer citrus fruits need to be peeled first and fruits with stones need to be destoned manually. The juicer will deal with apple cores and pips etc no problem.
The jug is really good too as it separates the small amount of scum that inevitably comes out along with the juice.
Cleaning is OK, but definitely best to do it straight away. A brush is supplied to help you get in hard to reach parts. Having not used any other juicer I can't compare if it is easier to clean, but I get the impression that it is, although there are some tricky bits.
I believe it can't handle things like kale, wheatgrass etc but things I have sucessfully juiced include; apples, pears, oranges, peaches, kiwis, strawberries, beetroot, cucumber and lettuce. I wouldn't particularly recommend the last two.
Summary: highly reommended, easy to use and clean
