Advantages: compact, easy to use and easy to clean
Disadvantages: doesnt make carrot juice!
If I am being entirely honest I have to say that I do not have a particularly big kitchen. I love my home and I love to cook, and if I had a wish then it would be that I could have a lovely large kitchen that I could use to house all of the gadgets that I have always wanted.
I would love a really big fancy juicer, but as I have said, my kitchen is not so big that I can afford the space on things of that size. I simply do not have the room, either on the work top or in a cupboard for a grand juicer - you know the type - where you can throw in whole pineapples and it jucies them in a heartbeat.
This juicer does not do that. Not even close. But dont mis understand me, this juicer does exactly what it says it does. It is a great little device, which can juice any citrus fruit without any issue. The fruit has to be soft (like an orange or lime) and cut in half, but provided this is the case then this juicer will work perfectly well.
The 'blade' for want of a better term, turns automatically when downward pressure is applied and this juices the fruit as you hold it in place. It really does make it easy in comparrisson to a traditional manual juicer. There are holes in the top lip which allow the juice to drain through but hold back any pips or 'bits' which people seem to hate. Personally I love them so the first thing I do is lift off the lid and scrape the bits in if I am going to drink the juice.
The whole thing comes apart really easily and the bits that get dirty are dishwasher safe.
The device it truely compact too as the cable even can be stored in the base of the device.
I would love a juicer that can juice carrots and things, but until I get a bigger kitchen, this is as good as I can get.
This juicer does exactly what it says it does, and it does it very well.
Summary: a great device for citrus fruit

- 08/01/09 This is a citrus juicer = which is different to the larger juicers you refer to that can do just about any kind of fruit and veg. Having a similar attachment on my food processor, its ironic that I only use it a couple of times as opposed to just squeezing a cut lemon manually. For the benefit of those who find manual struggling painful though I'd expect such a gadget like this would come in useful, regardless of whether its going to be used all the time or not. A good review here but lacks some very important info such as:
Noise
Price
The moving spindle in the middle - very fast so that your hand literally vibrates with the lemon or is there a cover that can cover over the citrus half thus protecting your hand? |
